Accessory maker Hyperkin is releasing an adapter for the SNES Classic Mini which allows you to use your original controllers.
The unit works like a dream - and we know because we were lucky enough to have been sent some test units to try out.

There will be piles of SNES Classic accessories languishing in retail stores when there are an extremely underwhelming number of consoles available.
Unsnesessary!
Can't help but wonder what the point is - the SNES mini already includes two controllers and they're basically exactly the same as the original ones (bar the cable length). Maybe for fightsticks? Can't think of any other reason.
This would be great for Wii u virtual console
Not that it matters but i wonder if this works on the NES mini as well. (And wii u)
@MariOnline Same. The controllers are one of the main reasons I want the console in the first place.
@Mechageo I'm in the same boat. The club Nintendo snes controllers were impossible to get for me and eBay prices to high for me. Lucky we get 2 with snes mini.
Suppose if one of your SNES Mini controllers gets lost/broken and you don't wanna shell out for the Club Nintendo edition, this with an original controller might work out cheaper.
Did any going the other way ever come out for the NES Mini (i.e. use the sparkly new controllers on the original console)? I would find that much more useful, as I'd get two brand new controllers for my Super Famicom.
YUP! I have the NES mini ones and I use them all the time. Glad these are coming.
I don't understand why anyone would go through the effort of selling accessories for the SNES classic. There's like, 20 of them. Even if you manage to sell one to half the install base that's only 10 sold. xD
SNES controller is still my go to whenever I can.
Like on retron 5? plug in my Genesis carts and use a REAL controller
If you want to play 3-Players co-op for Secret of Mana on the thing I guess this is the only way to do it as there are no multi-tap for the Super NES Classic Edition yet, just make sure to use a regular Super NES multi-tap for this.
It comes with 2 controllers in the box, so that'll be enough for me.
It's neat for all the people obsessed with these glorified plug and play systems.
@retro_player_22 Unfortunately that might depend on if the software controlling the SNES Mini bothered to support the third player.
I wonder if this will work on the wii u virtual console....
Has anyone confirmed if this supports the receivers for the 8bitdo pads? That would be killa.
There are two products that we need and this is neither of them. We need: 1) A controller extension that plugs into a Wii Remote or an SNES Mini. 2) A controller extension that plugs into a real SNES.
You see, we don't need to use our old worn out controllers on the SNES Mini, we need to use the new SNES controllers on both the SNES Mini and the real SNES with a cord long enough to be practical.
@HeroponRiki "There's like, 20 of them" Congratulations, you are the first person on the internet to make that joke.
Really want to know if this works on Wii U and Wii Virtual Console, then everyone, who still has their old SNES controllers, can play virtual console games with the correct controller
Were it not shipping with two replica pads already, I'd be ecstatic. Would be cool to bust out the SNES Advantage, though, and benefit from the longer cables for the original pads.
@Crono1973 @GravyThief Exactly, actually I'm searching for the reverse of this product: I'd like to be able to use the brand new SNES controllers on an original SNES/SFC.
Yes retro_player_22 ! the real question is : can we put a multitap on this adaptater !!!
I'm waiting for this !
