Snake Pass is undoubtedly an original idea, but we weren't satisfied with just knowing it was different, we wanted to find out how it came to be. That's why in the video above we hooked up with the founder of Snake Pass' concept Seb Liese at EGX Rezzed to chat about how this whole idea came to be.
What did you think of the unusual approach in this Switch eShop title? Let us know with a comment down below.

I assume it was the infamous road in the north Peak District.
I know the game is worth it on its own merits, but when compared to the gameplay I've had of yooka laylee... lets just say im glad this exists.
While I admit the game was a bit short, it was refreshingly unique and fun while it lasted. The David Wise soundtrack surely didn't hurt, either.
I knew you weren't going to ask him about the Switch's missing time trial...
Some DLC would be great as it's a pretty short game as it stands. I'd also be well up for a sequel, perhaps with larger worlds or something.
Shake the snake.
Snake Pass is all I've been playing since it came out. Made me put Zelda on hold for now. It's a great game that gets more engrossing as you slither through it.
"Don't pass it up"
...........HA.
Very different and very good as well! One thing I wanted to mention to anyone on the fence or in any way concerned following coverage from folks like Digital Foundry: the game genuinely looks very nice. Despite the otherwise lower resolution, the anti-aliasing they're using is wonderful and makes it so that, on my 1080p 40" TV at least, I can't see a single jagged edge on anything (something that's 100% not true for the 900p BotW). So if the concept and gameplay seem interesting, rest assured that the visuals don't let it down, and I didn't notice more than a random performance hitch here or there that in no way affected the gameplay.
I might grab this one on Steam, it looks like a lot of fun.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE 3 times and the you're playin' with yourself!
After awhile of frustration, I finally got the controls down and have been having a blast since! Such a fun game
this > yooka whatever it's called
Snake Pass deserves your support unlike Yooka-Laylee
The pun in the sub-title made me stare for a while, and make me wonder why I was so compelled to read this article.
Good job, Alex.
What a cool guy. Makes me want to get Snake Pass.
very "original" idea
So i heard some people say it's a spiritual successor to Snake Rattle and Roll. I haven't played either, so is that pretty much wrong? based on youtube the games look VERY different.
Good interview. Seems like a very passionate guy who loves his work.
I'm tempted to get it but I feel that I have finally learned my lesson with my eShop purchases on my 3DS/Wii U and Wii Shop. I impulse buy a lot on those systems and would spend less than an hour playing many of those games. My philosophy nowadays is that I think like a kid again. When I would go to the arcade back in the 80's, all I'd have is $2 in quarters to play with each week. Depending on game and experience, I would make each quarter last about 5-10 minutes; 40-80 minutes in total for the $2. So nowadays, If I'm going to buy a $5 dollar game, I'd want to put in at least 100-200 minutes of playtime to get my full value. In other words, the game needs to be worth my time…
Sorry for the off topic subject. So tempted to buy this game, but I feel that I won't put in much time in this game for the price
It was only yesterday after slowly going through the game, that I finished it. There was a lot of puzzle mechanics involved and the snake is indeed a tricky thing to control. It took a few levels before I finally got a handle on moving him around. It's really not that hard to handle once you are into it. The only thing is, never needed to use Y for the bird to help the snake, as it was mostly useless. And never really needed ZL as it was almost completely useless.
I am interested in these other mechanics that could've been added into the game, as when you look at it, this game could have so much more.
Cool interview. Seb certainly has an interesting background! I'm glad Sumo Digital headhunted him, it seems to have paid off in terms of introducing some innovative gameplay ideas.
So he was originally a biology-teacher. Cool!
