It's now less than a week before the year's first major Nintendo Switch Presentation, which is expected to get into the detail of the system's launch and games. Many are already setting aside the time to watch it, of course, but fans in New York have another tempting option to consider.
The Nintendo NY Store is going to host a screening of the presentation; with the awkward timing of the broadcast it'll be a late-night affair, with the first 250 on the scene getting inside to watch.
As a reminder, the presentation will be at 8pm Pacific / 11pm Eastern on 12th January, which is 4am UK / 5am CET / 1pm Tokyo / 3pm AEDT on 13th January. We'll be doing our usual build-up, live stream / blog and then coverage when it happens.
Are any of you New Yorkers going to head to Nintendo's store on the big day?

If they come to Ireland, I'll go. I'd say there's a 0.0000000001% chance of that happening. I'll make do with watching the presentations from home.
Dang, hosting this at their store at 11 p.m.?
Does that mean preorders will open immediately after?
@Aurumonado I hope so. At least, I hope they open up everywhere after the event.
Oh Okami, I bet there will be a blizzard to add to the trials of getting through NYC at night. And I guess people could spend some time in Rockefeller plaza if they end up being #251+.
@gatorboi352 It's called being an adult haha.
@H1B1Esquire: Exactly! I could deal with the commute and the late hour IF I knew I was guaranteed an place to watch in the store . . . I'll opt for my iPad and the comfort of my bed.
Wow. Given that everything there closes around 8:00, I guess this Switch event is going to be a big deal.
That's good for those who will attend. I live near NY and still wouldn't go. Just get those preorders ready.
I'm A-OK watching from home. I live in Florida anyway, so this isn't exactly an option. I'm just hoping pre-orders online open right after so I can make sure I get one.
I will watch first.
5 more days, I can't wait...
Ooh, like a midnight screening! Or midnight release if they're going to open preorders right there.
Pretty cool for those who want to share the live excitement with fellow fans. I would much prefer to watch at home, naked and full of cheese
@Ichiban
Add a turd to that and it's a plan.
I wish I could go...
I wish there were events like this where I live but I will be ok with watching this at home with a soda in one hand and a snack in the other!
I live in NYC but gave up trying to get into these events without waiting an insane amount of hours in line. Still, I love the Nintendo store and visit it a couple of times every month.
I'm sure it would be a cool experience but without a guarantee of getting in I'll just enjoy it on my couch thank you very much.
The store's grand reopening was the highlight of my visit to NY last year. The waiting in line for 4 hours in freezing temperatures was not.
@mjharper You think everything closes at 8 in NYC.. the city that never sleeps... you must not be from NY.
@getyourak You're right, I'm not actually from NYC. I got to visit there for a conference a couple years ago. I was amazed that all of the stores I went past on 5th Ave. closed at 8:00. The Nintendo World Store closed at 8:00 too. I'm not sure if it's still like that.
@Ichiban What kind of cheese?
And when theres a live screening at Nintendo NY, theres that certain person who records the live reactions of those watching. KirbyGCN17 is that person.
Pre-orders open after the presentation confirmed?
@danmonse You're so lucky I Love NY!
Nintendo need to build a store in London...
250 people... for the $250 price point? Nintendo Switch ;launch price CONFIRMED?!?!?!?
@happylittlepigs It's a possibility. And according to a rumor from a "Best Buy employee", the Nintendo Switch would be priced at $249.99 (US). No official confirmation if it's the price for a Basic Set. We'll find out in just two days... this Thursday Night at 11:00 pm EST.
