Mario Party: Star Rush, the mini-game bonanza arriving later this year, had a relatively brief segment in today's Nintendo Direct. Nintendo showed off some additional modes, which will offer different spins on the usual mayhem.
The trailer below is a decent showcase, also giving a brief glimpse of amiibo play.
A key announcement related to the Mario Party: Star Rush – Party Guest free download that'll launch alongside the game. Anyone that downloads that will be able to participate in all of the multiplayer content, as long as one player in the local multiplayer party (up to four players) has the full game. It's a nice touch, and this download 'guest' version seems to be a solution to get around the system limitations of Download Play.
Are you planning to pick this up in the Holiday season?

Looks fun. Hopefully other Mario Party fans think this.
If my friend buys this, then sure, I´ll be downloading this useful feature.
It's absolutely brilliant this one...played it in Germany and really can't wait to get it now. 100% recommended this one
I'm not typically interested in Mario Party games, but this looks pretty good.
The checkered pattern in the background really bothers me. Why did they go with that?
I am going to get this game
i think they added a really nice spin to the Mario party formula, i mean completely removing the dice rolls an letting everyone play at the same time is a bold move!
Looks a lot better than Island Tour and Advance, but I don't think it'll be as good as DS. Still, might buy it.
@candy94 GREAT Choice 👍
It's times like this I wish I had friends I could play this with
This game is must-get for me. My kids love Mario Party, but I was not certain that the existing download play functionality would allow them to get the full experience out of one cart (we have two 3DS systems). It seems Nintendo has found a solution with the free client software.
I wish they would create something similar for other multi-player centric games like Tri Force Heroes.
What they showed off today is definitely more enticing from what I've seen before. I'm still not sold on this, but I'll keep an eye on it.
I'm actually excited about a Mario Party game again... haven't felt like this before since MP 6 on the GameCube!
Off topic, but who the H*ll is running MYNintendo. Seriously the new rewards last until DEC. Really at this point Nintendo isn't even trying to help themselves with the program.
This is sad and its starting to make me not want to buy anything in the e-shop or log in to collect coins anymore because there's no point to it.
already have this on pre-order, cant wait...
I made the mistake of buying Mario Party 10.....no thank you!
It sounds like more of the same Mario Party 10 formula of everyone moving together???? Why couldn't they just improve on the original formula with new mini games and more intricate boards?
Looks really fun! Definitely getting this!
i am a huge mario party fan and this one looks better than the last few, but i dont know
@Sir_Teabag Just to wonder what website did u pre-order it from?
@Toadsfriend Thanks for liking my choice.

@dkxcalibur I dunno if you've confused 'moving together' with 'rolling dice at the same time' or what, this is nothing like Mario Party 10. Here, every player, as an individual, rolls their dice at the same time to move around on a grid to collect coins, buy stars or fight bosses for an opportunity to unlock stars. In Mario Party 10, one person rolled a dice to move all of their team-mates towards the end of a linear track whilst trying to have the most Mini-Stars at the end.
They're nothing alike.
@buildz Its surprising how many people are still confused by this when its been explained time and time again.
Going back to the old formula and the inclusion of download play has me sold.
Interesting. The sub-title says "Star" Rush but i didn't see a lot of Stars that to be hunted for. I saw tons of Coin as usual. Correct me if i wrong.
I would get this one if they had released it on Wii U.
@buildz Thanks, I was actually confused. It's good to hear that they abandoned the Mario Party 10 format!
@FragRed I know what you mean
How hard is it for Nintenderp to give Mario Party an ONLINE mode!?!?!?! and get rid of the car!!!!!
