At this point, the journey that Mighty No. 9 has taken to development has become almost comical. After a record breaking Kickstarter, hype was at an all-time high, but things quickly began to deflate after numerous delays and an attempt at doing a second fundraising campaign. The development team has remained worryingly quiet as of late, and the 'Spring 2016' window looks increasingly more unlikely with each passing day.
If a store listing at EB Games is to be believed, then it seems the game has been pushed back again. A fan recently snapped a picture of a store display, which puts the game down for a Summer 2016 release. While it's not been confirmed by the development studio yet, retailers occasionally have access to release data that's not yet public knowledge, so there's a chance that it has, in fact, been delayed once again. At this rate, perhaps we can finally expect to see the game release for the NX's successor sometime in 2022.
What do you think? How many more times will Mighty No. 9 be delayed? Were you one of the original backers? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Not surprised at this point, and I loved the 2022 estimate.
I'm honestly starting to wonder if this game was just vaporware all along. Just a very elaborate scam that went as far as making a playable demo to fool people. I'm sure that's not it and the studio is just a sh*tshow that can't get their act together, but this is just insane regardless of the explanation.
At this point, the only real excuse they have for yet another delay is if they're developing and including the entirety of Red Ash with this game. There will probably be a Kickstarter for Mighty No. 10 before this comes out.
Well, at least we'll have Zelda before this game releases. I think there's something fundamentally wrong with the game they're not telling us about.
I honestly don't understand what the holdup is. I know this is coming to just about every platform in existence, but I still don't see what could justify all the delays. They've literally had years to work on this, what is going on that is taking so long?
No. 9 apparently stands for the number of delays the game will receive in total.
I hear it'll be released the same week as Sadness.
9, the number of pushbacks this game has had. 9, the number of the month this game is probably actually going to come out in.
Ya know, the funny thing is that Shantae Half Genie Hero's Kickstarter was around the same time as Mighty No. 9 and still isn't out either, but we at least know that game will come out great.
even with all it's delays, it'll still beat the nx to market.
The worst thing is, I remember journalists last year basically saying the game is done. Pretty much all of it was available to play on the floor.
I suggest at this point, at any time a Mighty No. 9 comes up, you have a link to the Benny Hill theme.
@Churchy The developers have confirmed that it is done, the single player campaign is totally finished. The only thing holding it back is "multiplayer", but I think there's more to it.
I don't even fully remember if I backed this, it's so long ago. I think I did.
Complete scam
Inafune takes just as long to release this game as it takes Capcom to release another Mega Man.
@IceClimbers
You won the comment of the day award.
Was the latest one a third delay? Only 6 more until the game is released. The time period between each delay will become bigger and bigger until the game is finally released in 2022 like Nintendolife just predicted.
@MitchVogel I bet they are holding off until that TV show/film is ready, use one to drive interest in the other
@Octane its really a race now. Capcom's disinterest vs what ever the hell is going on with MN9
@MitchVogel I don't get why they don't release the campaign and then release an update when multiplayer is eventually ready. At least that way backers will finally get to play the game.
All trust in these guys is now surely nothing but a memory. They'll never be Kickstarted again, and that's what they deserve.
The radio silence - when they could be updating backers - is really not helping
@MitchVogel It doesn't help that Comcept are also helping to develop Recore!
I'm just wondering if what Hideki Kamiya said about Keiji Inafune was always correct. Either way I just find the whole saga hilarious now.
@the-madprofessor They claim it's because they don't have the money to pay for two separate quality approvals, but I think that's a load of BS. I don't know how much it costs to go through the approval process for patches, but it can't be so high that it would sink the studio, even taking all the different platforms into account. Even assuming it is that expensive, I'd think the revenue generated from the sales of the game would be plenty to cover the cost of a post release patch. Something about all these delays just isn't adding up.
Yeah, ok. >.>
At this rate, I'll be playing HL3 by the time Mighty No. 9 comes out.
Not fussed now been waiting too long.
Mighty--gnite snarky comments.
At this point, it wouldn't surprise me to see it get delayed to October/November, so it would be closer to the holiday season.
This is the reason why I don't back anything through kickstarter. I rather wait until the game is released before purchasing it.
I don't think it'll ever come out. In fact, I don't think the game exists at all. I think we've all been hallucinating. The money he raised was not for a game, but a mind altering experimental drug that was released into the air. All that we see are figments of our imagination. Inafune, hasn't been working at all, he's just been eating pie and watching Power Puff Girls.
I think there is something not quite right. With all the delays and not that many reasons why.
EB Games dates are usually pretty vague unless there's an actual date confirmed, last time it said Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate was releasing at the end of March when it actually ended up releasing in February so I'd take this with a grain of salt.
Coming in 20XX.
We'll see of Gunvolt 2 beats it.
I've been trying to remain optimistic and I legitimately enjoyed the demo (buggy as it was) but this is getting out of hand. I wish they would at least have the nerve to update us. Sure it's disappointing but I'd rather know than have radio silence to force a guess out of me.
And with some really great games coming out lately it's gonna be hard to be inspired to revisit the full version whenever the hell it does release.
It's doomed.
I can't say I'll never back another Kickstarter or anything again, because I also minimally backed Yooka and that's looking good so far, and I massively backed Bloodstained and they're looking even better. But I doubt I'll ever support Inafune again.
Going to be too old to play the game the amount of times it has been delayed
"In the year 20XX, Mega Man's spiritual successor, Mighty No. 9 was finally released after decades of delays and empty promises."
Deal with it!
I think developers need to stop giving us too early release dates.... just spend as long as they need to develop it and then give a realistic date
Honestly, at this rate Star Citizen will come out before No. 9 and that's basically an MMO that was kickstarted. The single player portion comes out this December
