Resident Evil is now 20 years old, another landmark to make some of us feel rather old. Beginning with fixed camera angles, limited ammo and a spooky mansion, it's a series that's evolved to incorporate faster action - for better and worse, depending on the game - and a whole load of movies that keep doing the job at the box office. It is, without doubt, one of Capcom's most valuable franchises.

The series has hit 66 million game sales so far, and Capcom is promising a strong year of celebration.

The anniversary celebrations will continue over the next year and the team is already hard at work to deliver some amazing new surprises. Stay tuned to our channels throughout the year for more news on what the team has in store.

In addition there's a video interview with series producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi which is well worth a watch.

The series as a whole, particularly some of the older entries, have certainly had a big impact on pop culture. As our own mini-tribute we want to share this classic scene from Spaced, a UK TV show that captured how intense the horror was 'back in the day'. There's a bit of fake gore and brief swearing, by the way.
