Many of us had hoped that we would be playing Fox McCloud's latest adventure on our Wii U consoles this Christmas, but sadly Star Fox Zero has been delayed until early next year - despite what some slightly optimistic retailers might have you believe.
The wait might be painful but at least you have these amazing official wallpapers to tide you over until release. Our personal favourite is the hangar scene shown above, which has been available previously but not in this gorgeous high-resolution. There are even mobile options available for the wallpapers, too.
Have gander around the official site and let us know how much you want to play this space combat title. You might also want to check out Alex's hands-on impressions of the title below.

Yay! New Wall-Paper!
I've just used one of these for myself, however it just makes me want to play the game now!
Whose the mech designer? I like how it looks like a bird, but the transformation makes no sense.
Did anybody else notice that on that website it says 1-2 players!!! Awesome!!
If you scroll down to the bottom of the SFZero website it says "Broadband internet access required for online features".
This could be fantastic news if this means we get to have online dogfights and other online MP modes.
That hangar pic is really good. Too bad the game looks nothing like it, looks like it's from Ratchet and Clank. I don't think even if they had CG in the game it would look that good.
Checking out the webpage I forgot this game had multiplayer. Had to look it up. Seems like it's more "helper" multiplayer similar to Super Mario Galaxy. Should be listed as 1 1/2 players.

This first sentence was interesting:
"Star Fox Zero will be a key release on Wii U this Holiday season, likely to lead the Wii U charge alongside diverse titles such as Animal Crossing amiibo Festival, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash and Xenoblade Chronicles X. "
SFZ and AC:aF leading the charge for the holidays. I know about SFZ, but AC:aF is out in 9 days but you would never know it. You can't even find it in the eShop. No trailers like Mario Tennis has been getting. The AC amiibo cards are all marked HHD, not aF. If that's how Nintendo treats it's big holiday game - zero marketing effort at all - Wii U deserves to be in dire straights. I know they haven't done a ND since E3 but where's Treehouse Live?
Nothing on NOA Twitter, or the Nintendo News page, or even Youtube, which covers a lot of games - AC:HDD, Yokai Watch, Mario Tennis, Splatoon, Triforce Heroes, XCX. Even the Nintendo Minute duo have ignored it, focusing mostly on SMM.

@leo13 Co-op
I was excited, until I remembered they told us about that back in July. Then not so excited.

@rjejr thanks for the info. I'd love a 5 player battle mode, but I'm excited for co-op too. If only it had both.
Thanks for these! So excited for this.... Picking up FALCO from Best Buy this month will be another slice of cake before the pizza in Q1 2016.
EDIT: Or maybe that's another slice of pizza before the cake in Q1... I guess it depends on how old you are...
Off-topic question, but when will the Super Mario Maker update go live?
@TerrapinJess
I too will be picking up Falco this month at Best Buy!
The artwork on these wall papers is amazing!
@MarvinTheMartian That's is on a lot of Wii U games that don't have online multiplayer, I think it just covers Miiverse and things like that. It also says 1 - 2 players, did we know about that previously?
Wish I could Use the Boost to Get Through the first few months of 2016 already...
I was severely disappointed by the the demo of that game... Hopefully the end result will be just blowing it away.
No, it won't. I don't play wallpapers.
I'm so ready for this. I don't care what the whiners say about the graphics, we're finally getting a new Star Fox!
@AlexSora89 8 PM EST I think.
Wouldn't it be awesome if Nintendo launched Star Fox 2 on the VC in the meantime?
Seems odd this stuff comes up after we learned it's getting delayed. I guess they are still trying to build hype for it. I'm hyped for it if they try to make me or not.
@Freeon-Leon
And 8 PM EST, in Europe, means... 1 AM. Wow.
People are just hyping themselves up for disappointment.
@MikeW I agree and congrats on getting one reserved in time! Frankly, there's just not enough Star Fox art out in the world. These are great and they'll be going right into my phone and computer's wallpaper
Oh if only the game looked like that render of the hangar! It's beautiful!
Sorry, anime girls more important, lol
@MitchVogel I don't think the graphics are the problem here. The game runs really smooth and this is the only Wii U game as far as I know that makes great use of the gamepad.
I think the real problem here is that visually, as amazing as they are to me and some others, its just passable at best. I guess the delay will polish up the visuals even better.
I love that Hanger image, so far the only poster I got from the GameStop rewards program and I see it every morning.
GOTY I'm calling it!!
