The next installment in the Star Wars Franchise is mere weeks away from release and it's already poised to smash box office records. Indeed, it already has broken records in pre-order sales alone, with sites such as Fandango and Movietickets actually crashing when the tickets were put on sale. It's no wonder, then, that Disney is aiming to cash in on the hype, with an entire Play Set based around The Force Awakens due out for Disney Infinity 3.0 on 18th December.
Players will be able to play as characters from the film such as Finn, Rey, Poe Dameron, and Kylo Ren, as well as all the characters from the previous Star Wars themed Play Sets. There will also be Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron figures available for purchase, in addition to a Power Disc Pack. Check out the trailer below:

Those stormtroopers don't have real blaster rifles, you can see the orange tip on them.
@shaneoh it doesn't take away the realism so what's the point? In the trailer you can see Finn firing a rifle without a cap
@Mega719
I think the joke went over your head somewhere between the words "real" and "blaster rifle"
Edit: on closer inspection, there is a coloured tip on Finn's rifle, it's just hard to see through the muzzle flashes. Toys using toy toy guns. Wait, is a toy toy gun a toy toy gun or just a toy gun?
Edit2: Writing the word toy so many times has made it look weird. Toooooy. T-oi-yuh.
Man no lie i want the new Star Wars movie to suck. Just too see people rage and cry. Damn now that would be a great Christmas present!
@TwilightAngel
That sounds quite spiteful and petty.
@shaneoh Imagine. Millions and millions of people crying and raging on the internet and in real life. Oh man now that would be something.
@TwilightAngel
Yeah I can't imagine that it would be millions that will take it as badly as you want.
@TwilightAngel every comment from you I see site will be colored by this post.
Why 3.0 and not just 3?
Have had this preordered for a while now. Ep 7 HYPE
Had mine on pee-order since October love the game.
What is the purpose of the different types of plastic contraptions? I haven't been interested in Disney Infinity because I've got the impression I need around 30 plastic pieces to play the full game, and at about EUR10 Euro per piece, it sure seems like an expensive game. What is the minimum needed to play one part of the game, and also what is the minimum to be able to play the whole game?
@BornInNorway81 First of all, at least in the US, never pay full price for any of it. The sales on these things are meant to drive traffic to retailers and they go deep. Often into 50% off and that happens at launch, a few weeks in, every new wave, every excuse imaginable.
Second, I'd just pinpoint what you like and go from there. You need a base station but it has remained the same since DI 1.0, for playsets there is a little clear plastic sculpture you need to play. Play sets are the most traditional game and they are usually pretty short. 1.0 and 3.0 have the best play sets. You need one figure for each local player but play sets come with two figurines.
Then, there's the toy box which helps justify the cost of the starter set and for some people most of the hours will be spent. Here you can mix and match all the figurines (two at a time unless you play online then up to 4) with maps of your creation. You can build and create something complex or just a quick environment with vehicles and whatnot to play with a friend.
Not sure if I answered you're questions right, but it depends on what you want to do with it. The frustrating part that remains is if you are just starting and aren't interested in the starter pack game you have to get creative (digital download and used base + play set you DO want is what I did (though the used base was my own from a previous version))
Anyway I've rarely paid full price for anything Disney Infinity and I've been on board with way too many toys since 1.0. It doesn't take much effort either really. Nothing like amiibo.
@TwilightAngel While I'm not personally wishing the movie will tank, it would be interesting to see it fail and countless millions all over the globe raging and crying at how their highly anticipated Star Wars movie was terrible. It could even lead to people boycotting the future movies.
*A New Hope rehash would be a better choice of words than The Force Awakens.
@Soren Fans disliked the episodes 1-3 and those were created by George Lucas himself. George Lucas had Alan Dean Foster write the original movie scripts for "A New Hope" and "Empire Strikes Back". Mr Foster did this under the pen name of "George Lucas" and didn't want any credit as it was the real George Lucas' idea. So it will be interesting to see how a film without any Lucas influence will do.
I'm excited for the film myself and have my tickets pre-ordered as well as I plan on picking up this Disney Infinity playset.
I'll be picking the playset up on the 18th but I won't play it until I see the movie on the 19th.
@faint Eh see if i care
@Soren They boycott the next movie? Nope. Why? If it does suck they will cry for like a week or two and then forget about it. And when the next movie is shown in a few years or so they will hype it up. This will happen if the new movie does suck.
@aaronsullivan Thank you very much for explaining. You answered my questions well!
