Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is already out in North America but Europe will have to wait until the 2nd October. In the mean time why not kick back and enjoy this short unboxing we've produced of the limited edition New Nintendo 3DS XL based around the game?
As a bonus why not check out the video beneath ours from FamilyGamerTV's Andy Robertson where he unboxes the standard, smaller version of the Animal Crossing-themed New 3DS.

nice!
These are really good looking. However they look eh compared to some other flagship titles 3ds LE. Nothing beats the Majoras Mask one however these are nicer than the ACNL 3ds xl. I kinda wish the N3dsxl had interchangeable faceplates!
gosh~ i really want it.
but is not released in NA.
what a bummer!
I just bought the Animal Crossing HHD New 3DS that released in NA with faceplates, I REALLY love that AC design on the faceplates with the house and rainbow.
But, I couldn't resist slapping on the Fire Emblem Fates cover plates. And MAN does it look sexy! I went on a cover plate binge and also ordered both the black and white versions of the MH4U cover plates, the Monster Hunter X cover plates, Pokemon (new preorder with blue background and different Pokemon all over), the wood grain LE and Xenoblade. And of course I have the Fire Emblem plates I'm using, the AC plates and the 2nd AC plate with the character's face on it. So a nice little collection so far.
Also oreordered that Hyrule Gold New 3DS XL. Will match perfectly next to the Majoras Mask XL.
I admit, the New 3DS is still noticeably smaller than the XL, which was always barely big enough for games like DKC Returns (when DK blasts to background) and Smash (when it zooms out), but it looks SO. DANG. GOOD. that I'm still tempted to do a system transfer and use it as my main.
It's always 10 steps forward, 20 back with Nintendo. Now, the changeable faceplates was an excellent idea: release an assortment of these things for $15-20 a pop (rather than requiring fans to pony up $200+ for each special edition 3DS model that comes out should they want a new look for their system) and simply swap them out. Then, we come to find only the regular-sized New 3DS has this "feature" while the New XL does not. So here we are back at square one: another large New XL special edition (which isn't as cheap for fans as the faceplates would be, plus manufacturing an entire new system can't be cheap for Nintendo either) that will really only benefit those who don't yet have a system and this is their first. Hopefully, the new president can shake some of the "Iwata" off this company... (And I'm not disrespecting Iwata: I hope his family are finding some peace and progressing through life while holding steadfast to his memory. But I've NEVER cared for Iwata's business acumen as a Nintendo exec and still don't now.)
meh don't care for the XL design.
I got the N3DS bundle since I'm NA, and I can eventually get that PIKACHU PARTY THEME! (and others)
Wish it included standard white plates... maybe NoA will sell replacement basic plates when the N3DS gets a real launch in NA?
@JaxonH wish I had the funds for that. I got amiibos and N3DS at midnight launch for some NBA game or something tough so I'm good.
I hope for stuff like AA and the colors 3D it still works good for me, theres no Colors title for Wii U sadly, but AA is on Wii U as well. (I got digital AA a long time ago for the promo where you got DK:Original edition for free or w/e, have pokemon AA physical cart but it isn't the same as regular AA so no basic free drawing there. )
I downgraded for an pikachu XL to the Standard N3DS just for the pika plates and other plate, so far its 100% worth it. love the unit, love the included house plates. hope to get the pikachu plates and the smash plates NoA has on their website sometime soonish and maybe another one for a set of 5 plates to use.
@Uberchu Just import plates from eBay or Amazon, some of them aren't very expensive. On the other hand, some of them are very expensive...
I bought the Totakeke one, new, less than $15.
@BinaryFragger
Ya it is. I'll admit the screen is still small enough to affect certain games (tried DKC Returns last night and it was still hard to see in the background, although it was a little more tolerable than the original 3DS), but it really speaks volumes that despite this shortcoming I still prefer to use it over the XL (at least for now, maybe I'll tire of the small screen down the line but as of now it's worth tolerating).
And the benefits are the visuals look better on a smaller screen (and more like handhelds of yesteryear, back before all the XL madness), the faceplates are AWESOME (can't get enough of those Fire Emblem Fates cover plates, my GOODNESS they look good!), the colored buttons look awesome, the all white looks awesome. It's just really freakin awesome!
I'm not fond of the spaghetti string stylus though. The New 3DS XL stylus was cutting it short but this one is short AND thin as a paperclip.
Looks really good, but I don't know if I actually want it, because I suck at Animal Crossing.
Anicotti LOL
I bought the new 3DS HHD bundle at Toys R Us. It is the best system Nintendo has made so far, not counting the NES and SNES, those two systems are on a level by themselves. I ordered Majora's Mask faceplates from Japan. Can't wait to get them. I recommend that everyone who has a 3DS or wants one to get the new 3DS, it's that good. Haven't played HHD yet. I hope Nintendo release Twilight Princess and Windwaker for the new 3DS. That would be amazing.
