The release of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker draws ever closer and the game looks more exciting with each passing week. If you haven't noticed, Atlus has been drip feeding us videos over the past few weeks, with each one showcasing a different aspect of gameplay. We've already seen videos on the Demon Auction and the Fate System, and this week Atlus has chosen to release a video of the meat of the game: it's combat.
For newcomers to the genre, this should serve as a welcome introduction to the turn based, demon-centric gameplay. Here's the video for you to feast your eyes on:
What do you think? Does this get you any more excited for the game's release? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

This looks great will wait on this one for like I year. Altus always has a discount.
@River3636 Good call. These games always drop in price pretty quick.
If this game is anything like the original, it'll be over a hundred hours of entertainment.
I didn't finish the DS version of this game, because... who knows?
Perhaps I will start from zero with this remake.
Funny, I thought SMTxFE was going to work like this. Although I am glad they're not just copying and pasting this formula.
Like a cross between FE and Pokemon... orrr, exactly like the first game.
I am loving the art for this game.
So excited to play this (even though im about to buy Tensei IV and am in the middle of Overclocked) :/
Glutton for punishment, I am.
@CaviarMeths "exactly like the first game"
Oh no, I need less games on my backlog, not more!
@CaviarMeths Haha this practically IS the original game. I figured it bore mentioning due to how relatively under the radar the initial release was. Truth be told, I didn't know that the original existed until this remake was announced.
@MitchVogel Well, more expansion than actual remake I think. They claim there's double the content of the original. I was actually comparing it to the first Devil Survivor Overclocked though. Seems the combat is mostly unchanged from that game.
@CaviarMeths Agree, I finally started to play Overclocked in these days and I don't see many differences here (maybe just some color scheme in the menu changed, there is a lot more blue here XD).
It's not a bad thing anyway, so far I'm loving the first game and a "more of the same" sequel can even be a good thing time to time .
I'm interested in whether the two storylines - old and new - are completely divided, as in whether or not you'd keep your team from the old one if you were to play it before the new content. For the new story to be challenging at all I'd imagine they need to be separate, but we'll see.
Still a good while for me to get this, though. But at least it's supposed to be released by Fall so it's not that much of a wait.
Why are they still using that kind of graphics? style? This is so sad
More like a cross between SMT mainline and FE, since SMT predates Pokemon by several years... . Even then, the Majin Tensei spinoffs were more directly a cross between SMT and FE. Devil Survivor has some key modernized elements that would break the balance of FE, such as being able to choose your weapon and action before any skirmish, even if it's the opponent's turn and they're faster than you (without a weapon triangle). Then again... turning the FE weapon triangle into a mind game of chance might be an interesting way to shake up the aged formula...
I really liked the battle system in Overclocked and this will be pretty much the same so I'm digging this.
The demon auction was a cool mechanic too. I'm glad that's making a return. Pretty sure there are more demons in RB so this game will be great.
Well I hate to be that guy. But calling SMT combat pokemon is borderline offensive.
@Trapleton good news is that SMT X FE is going to be a super JRPG which exceeds everything I could've wanted.
