There's potential for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D to introduce Monolith Soft's impressive RPG to a new audience, though admittedly its exclusivity to the New Nintendo 3DS may limit its sales impact in the same way as its relatively late (Western) arrival on Wii. For fans of the genre or those seeking a sizeable adventure, it's certainly worth considering.
Nintendo's continuing to release videos to show the title off on the New 3DS, and the latest example shows off a key feature of the Monado's move-set. As you progress you unlock a new ability to foresee dangers for allies and, if you judge the execution well, you can provide a shield or buff to protect your teammate. It adds another level of depth to the real-time battles.

Wow, no comments yet... why not be the first?
No, thanks. Whoops!
Anyway, still not sure if I should get a new 3DS for this only, as I already have the Wii version.
I have a NEW 3DS XL. I already have Xenoblade on Wii. I am not sure if I should Double Dip or not...
@sinalefa
Honestly, even though I have it on the Wii as well, I'm tempted to get a N3DS just for this because really, what's better than portable Xenoblade?
@Jamester0722
If you already have a New 3DS, yes you should most definitely buy this!
I'm on a tight budget and I know I'll find some good answers here so I'll ask this question: Should I buy Xenoblade Chronicles X or get this for the New 3DS first? As I didn't play it the first time around.
I'm dead set on getting Zelda U so I'm saving the remainder of my money for that. Thanks in advance guys.
I am super impressed that Nintendo was able to put this game out as a 3DS game. But that flicker. So much flicker. I can't do it. It would drive me nuts.
@S3OL Wii U Xenoblade will probably be much more than what the New 3DS Xenoblade is. Even more so, the consoles version of Xenoblade Chronicles I would assume is better, though Xenoblade Chronicles is good yes.... though I just doubt it will be able to match the console version. If you don't have it on on the Wii, I'd say then go for which ever one, however if you can only afford one, I'd say go for the Wii U version coming... though at the same time, the Wii U version is coming way down to road so you will probably have money for both.
Can't wait to simply see this in 3d! I want to see all my favorite games in 3d.
@ikki5 I thought since it was coming out next month in Japan, that it would be releasing sometime in November over in the west maybe? Idk how far into localizing the team are so I can only assume things.
ARGH. I'm so torn.
@S3OL
Yeah, I know it comes sooner in Japan but what makes me wonder and think to how long it will get localized here (or North America for me), I just think of games such as Story of Seasons, Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii and so forth. Really it is up to you, I know it will be a little while for Xenoblade Chronicles X for the Wii U will be a while. my best guess would be Summer - Fall of this year.
@S3OL I really hope it doesn't take until Nov, because I'd bet money that Zelda U releases on November 19 (in the States). If that's the case I won't have time to get to X until 2016.
And although it's unlikely, I hope that Nintendo releases a guide for Chronicles 3d so that I will have incentive to finish it on the Wii.
@S3OL
I would say this one because it is cheaper ($40 instead of $60), plus you can have Zelda U on the console and this on the handheld. And if by any chance you don't like it, then you will have spent less.
But both games look awesome, and actually it is possible that X ends up being the better game, assuming they learned from XC and improved upon it.
@sinalefa: Yeah I guess you're right. I mean, I wouldn't really mind it so much if the price of the Wii version of Xenoblade didn't inflate so much because it's instilled this fear that these two will follow suit, so I'd rather buy both but I can't and aaargh.
@wayward: I share your pain! Not even 10 hours into the story and I sold it. I've been regretting it ever since.
So pumped to jump into XC again! Absolutely loved it when I first played through it. Took me 200 hours to beat & I didn't collect everything. My #1 favourite game ever! Such an amazing art direction, music & gameplay Love it!
I would only get this if it had any exclusive contents for it, if not I'll just passed or maybe wait for a price drop as I already had the original on the Wii.
BACK SLASH!
@S3OL I would expect that Xenoblade Chronicles X and Zelda U will come out no sooner than September of this year in North America and Europe, but could likely get pushed back until November. I'm new to Xenoblade and so I am starting with the new 3DS version and then will go onto the Xenoblade X when it is released. So if you can afford both given the time left in development I would get the 3DS version now. But then again it's difficult to tell how much backstory will be involved in the new game. The main reasons I am getting the game now are to become familiar with the gameplay so I can be more impressed with the new game. And the second reason is just to familarize myself with the story as I likely won't want to go back to it after the new game releases.
@S3OL The single reason that the Wii version of Xenoblade Chronicles was rare was because it was exclusive to Gamestop. It was a gamble on whether the game would be successful in the West and it became a big hit. The prices inflated and even Gamestop started selling "second hand" copies for premium prices. The 3DS version is not exclusive and because the new 3DS doesn't have a big install base, unless Nintendo just doesn't publish that many copies (something they haven't said anything about) then it will likely not be that rare.
@Nico07: I guess there's no reason for worry then. Thanks.
@Jamester0722 Unless you want the portability or model viewer, then I'd say no. IMO it looks worse than the Wii version graphically (considering the graphics were the only bad thing in the original, it does make a difference). And you can't transfer your save over so you can't start on new game+, you'd have to start from lvl 1, which is already possible on the Wii if you ever wanted to start from scratch again anyway.
I'm totally double dipping and hopefully they have a bundle or a Xenoblade exclusive N3DS.
