If you've ever wanted to feel old or skilled at a game from the Super Smash Bros. series, this video should be able to accommodate you.
The REACT YouTube channel has taken six teenagers of varying names and sexes and pitted them against one another to see who has the most skill on the N64's classic Super Smash Bros.. Needless to say many of the contestants aren't perhaps as skilled as the contestants of the recent tournament, but it's not all about winning.
The level of confusion this time around isn't quite a concentrated as when a similar group of younglings were put in front of an NES, but it's safe to say certain functions of the game – such as jumping – eluded these fresh-faced folk
Watch the video below and tell us what you think of the efforts of these young guns in the comments section below!

This one actually wasn't as bad as others. Like the NES and GB one. Those were just painful...
Electrode: Electrode! [BLAST]
Josh: Where did I go?
Rumor: How did you do that?
This was horrible as a "react video". They basically showed no reactions to something they knew nothing or little of - they were just playing.
I kinda liked this one. It wasn't irritating... although it was facepalm inducing.
this was actually good to watch
I cringed when I watched this video. Even when i first picked up Smash Bros on the 64 i can't recall not knowing which button jumped. Did anyone else yell through the screen to tell them that they were holding the controllers wrong?
This annoyed me so much! Hold the controller properly!! :@
@Samuel-Flutter
How odd...I just ran across this and watched it on You Tube last night.
I think the lesson learned here is who cares about teenagers?
I hate "Teens" react videos. They're all such idiots.
"Kids" react are the only ones that are even remotely entertaining
Time for everyone in the comments to talk about how superior they were at these kids age.
Kids play something new and take some time to adjust... what a big supprise!
It does't mean their idiots or slow it just means its new and takes some getting used to. I wish people would stop acting all high and mighty over these video.
Little late the party @jedisquidward. These reaction videos are clickbait and cater to the lowest common denominator. Calling out these videos shouldn't be frowned upon.
Haven't watched it yet, cos I'm at work, but i will lol. I've been training my 11 year old daughter on the VC version thou, in preparation for SSBWU
The ignorance....it hurts.....
No Up+B's or smash attacks were used. Not surprising, though.
These people are as old as/older than the game itself (1999 I believe). I think it would have been better to have this for a KIDS react vid.
It was funny N64 was too expensive and hard to get, back in 90's in Poland, so I am jealous they got a chance to play Smash Bros 64 and as far as I don't like Teen React, Ethan is cool.
I HATE these videos. I'm 14 and don't have the common sense of a dead pigeon. They're all fake and Nintendo Life should know better than to post this mindless drivel.
Smash 64 is just way too recent for teenagers to be surprised of it... Kids, I would understand, but people at most 5 years younger than me should have an idea if I was able to play it back in the day.
@KeeperBvK This is not apart of the normal react series. This is apart of their Gaming series... every Monday I think.
Meh reactions.
Link and Kirby were my tormentors in that game.
Have some of these people ever played any smash bros before? And it seems like their goal is to act stupid and play it up.
Why did I click play. They're never any good.
It's so obvious that they intentionally act stupid so nerds rage and spread the videos.
@JellySplat so basically, you hate your peers...
@PAppleyard Actually, they were playing something old.
@OneBagTravel If you feel that way that is your opinion and that is fine, but I think that the description you gave is rather derogatory and/or insulting. Why not look at it as something that is mildly entertaining? And in varying degrees, seeing as not every video they post can cater to everyone's taste.
There are a lot of video's/channels to be found on YouTube that are far (and I mean FAR) more worthy of terms such as click bait because these actually do "cater to the lowest common denominator". As far as I'm concerned, and I'm pretty sure many others as well, calling out these videos definitely SHOULD be frowned upon. It's just kids having fun, is all, ffs... (or, for the sake of factual perspective: adults having a bit of mild fun subjecting kids/teens to things from their own youth)
Don't like it, don't watch it. Simple.
@Samuel-Flutter That's actually how I always held the controller. I had a weird callous on the skin between my thumb and index finger of my left hand as a kid because of how far my thumb would have to stretch to touch the analog stick. Everyone seemed to think my hand position was weird, but I was the best at Smash and Goldeneye amongst my friends.
lol, i wish play a 5v1 handicap match and p0wn those noobs with Captain Falcon
@emiingham Why are people banging on about holding the controller properly. There's no right way to hold it. Hands on the two putter prongs is how I did it, still do it and never lose on Smash. Holding the middle prong feels wrong and there's not enough grip on the analogue stick so not enough control. My cousin, who i play the N64 games with uses the middle one and always challenges me hard, on every game other than Smash. There's no right or wrong way of holding it. Can hold it upside down if it suits you.
@Savino I am sorry. I made that comment earlier without thinking it through. Nobody is under any obligation to learn anything about old games nor do I expect them to love the same games I do. I spoke without thinking and I apologize again. I will be more careful and considerate in future.
"There's a thing that goes in here...?"
-Facepalm-
@TheRealThanos
Nope. Pretty sure I'm the same age as all the peeps in this vid. They are not my peers.
I just hate how they play dumb for the camera. most Kids in "Kids React" are too innocent and naive put up a fake act, but these teens are just making themselves look like fools.
I get it, it's for our "entertainment", but I simply do not find it funny.
@Savino there is nothing to forgive but you were right. I was being too harsh and everybody has different opinions about everything and I need to remember that. Have a good night!
@Savino if they announce Majora's Mask 3D my century will be made.
Still have my original copy from decades ago, too bad my n64 crapped out on me in 2004.
@Michael_JF
@Savino
Friends. (-.-)><(-.-)
@JellySplat mind you don't get turned into a potion chu-jelly
@Michael_JF
You'll have to kill ten of me first
@JellySplat as soon as I find the other nine I will. 😜
@JellySplat Then don't watch or choose the other ones that you do like with the smaller kids. I just watched it again and to me they're just average kids, and not all of them are as game savvy as we probably are and yes, some have a bit of a (staged) attitude, probably coming from them getting more and more exposure on the REACT channel, but still I see no reason to send in the Spanish inquisition, as some of you seem to want to do.
I'm 44yo myself and to me all kids that age act dumb, rash or thoughtless to some extent or another but since I've been like that myself I'm certainly not going to blame them for it.
P.S. a peer is a person of the same age, status, or ability as another specified person, in this case you, and I'm pretty sure these teens are in or near your age category, so what I said before still applies...
I could only stomach watching the first match, but I was SO surprised by that outcome XD
I'm genuinely scared to watch this, after the atrocity of the other vids…
@Michael_JF IT BUUUUUUURRRRRRRNNNNNNSSSSS!!!!!!!
I would've down+A'd the crap out of them with Kirby. We referred to that as the "bitch" move. As in, "Oh, I just bitched you!" The best was the Pokemon level with the gap in the middle. "Bitching" people down that gap was SO satisfying.
I don't understand kids today. When I was a kid, I was interested in everything, both new and old. I loved Americana and learning about records, 8 tracks, Atari, and black and white television. Today's generation has a world of information available to them, but are super ignorant.
@TheRealThanos
these "kids" are acting far more worldly and idiotic than I ever would, and I strongly dislike their attitude. And I'm not just saying that because of this one video. I realize not everybody is tech/video game savvy, and that is perfectly fine. But the other video's these teens are in they act even more idiotic, like they're trying to put on a show, and that annoys me, as the "REACT" videos are supposed to be genuine first reactions, not 18 year old's acting like children half their age for a camera.
You can look at teenagers however you want to, but you can't put me in the same "class" as them if you know nothing about me or how I act, even though you may think you have my attitude and personality pinned.
I'm guessing you're getting a negative first impression of me, that's fine.
Have a good day.
@Michael_JF
You're gonna need access to a potion shop too... tell me, do you live anywhere near Windfall island? They're supposed to have a pretty decent potion shop there.
If not, you could make do with a nice cast iron cauldron and a brewing stick. Good luck friend.
@JellySplat so I guess it's ww that takes 10 chu jellies because in tp you just scoop up one after you kill it
@Michael_JF
Yes WW takes 10 Chu-jellies per potion.
Way back in the day when Hyrule was a landmass, you could just scoop up the chu-chu's raw, since they were more naturally nutritious from the protein and fiber in the ground/trees which they lived in. But nowadays, you have to infuse it with the proper ingredients and nutrients to make it edible.
@JellySplat It's a crying shame...
"Rumor"?
"Alix"?
What is wrong with you, America?
@OneBagTravel well excuse me but I love playing smash 64. Me and my sister are very competetive in it. It was the first smash game we ever played. We've trained ourselves with that game so much that I went to a friends house once and their dad who was a pro smash player was wrecked by me and my sister as a team against him and his son. And guess what! My and my sister are only 14 and 12! (True he trained more with melee but still, he was like 30 and his son was 15.)
@Luneth
IKR. I'll bet Rumor is a self given name. And I bet that fluorescent red hair is totally natural...
@JellySplat Negative impression of you? Nah, you'd need to do way more than this to achieve that, but you do seem to be a bit too acidic/sarcastic for someone your age. At my age you tend to get a lot more relaxed about things, which you may have noticed from my earlier comments and probably will notice when you yourself will get to that point.
I wouldn't be able to comment on many other Teens react videos, as I've only seen the few posted here and they were okay and mildly entertaining to me, but maybe you have a point there, I don't know.
As for the whole peer argument: I didn't mean to imply that you're equally "idiotic" or whatever as these teens, but based purely on age they are of your generation and that was all I meant to say, so no need to feel insulted by that.
So, I don't have you "pinned" nor do I care to. And even though you're young, it would be nice to see you react to my comments in a less personal way, seeing as I DO assume that you have manners and a brain. My comments were not intended in a negative way, they were just observations so I would appreciate getting the same treatment from you in return. I've always learned that you don't disrespect people for no reason, whatever age they are. And (unless they insult me) I'm always polite to older people, especially ones that are old enough to be my parent...
@TheRealThanos
Ouy... Man I feel like a jerk now. I've been in an absurdly prickly mood recently. I tend to go on the internet and rage at things when I'm mad. Nothing super bad, I don't troll people or anything, but I do rage.
So sorry for my rashness and insulting tone. While (I'm sure you'd agree) I'm not one to take life lessons from people I don't know, I shouldn't have been a jerk about it.
You seem like a nice person, which is a rare find on the internet these days it would seem.
Sorry for being acidic/sarcastic, I get that way when I'm in a bad mood. Not saying it's good, it's just something I have to work through.
Good day sir, and thank you for slapping me out of my bad funk I'll try to set a better example from here on out.
(I still dislike "Teens React" though)
@JellySplat Yeah, I was wondering about that. Comments I've seen from you in the past certainly were more lighthearted. And don't worry about working through your moods. I suspect you have quite a few years ahead of you to make something of that. But no offense taken, though; I'm still relaxed...
(must be my Californian heritage)
Thanks for this, a pleasant surprise indeed. (because somewhere in the back of my mind I was still expecting another stiff reply)
I always hope to inspire or at the very least show others that, even on the internet, where it's so easy to anonymously stomp people into the ground (even if in real life you wouldn't be able to put a dent in a soap bubble) it is possible to make your point without refraining to certain language. I saw some other guy (calls himself Sadodi) get banned because of that a day ago in the "I'll Take Zelda And Mario Over Sharing Call Of Duty With Sony And Microsoft, Says Reggie Fils-Aime" article. Apparently he wasn't able to constrain himself. Seems totally useless to me since you win nothing...
Anyway, I'm sure I'll see you around here again since we both like gaming and specifically the stuff that Nintendo brings to the table, so until then. (tips hat)
@TheRealThanos
Likewise. Sorry again for my attitude.
It really is easy to anonymously stomp people on the internet isn't it? I got banned from Miiverse because of my bad habit of raging when I'm mad. Ouy, I really wish they wouldn't PERMANENTLY ban people for making a couple of rude comments. While I completely understand it, and respect their attentiveness to trolls etc., It's really unfair to ban someone forever! I mean, why not just for a year, or even a few months? nope. FOREVER!
