Back in late September Nintendo of Europe revealed red and blue transparent 2DS systems that'll be bundled with Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire; though one of the models has since appeared in an early listing in North America, full release details for the region have proven elusive.
Nintendo of America has finally confirmed those details — both the red and blue units will arrive in North America on 21st November, the same day as the new Pokémon titles. No bundles have been announced for these transparent systems, though their recommended price as standalone units will be $99.99.
Are any of you in North America tempted to add one of these to your hardware collection? Let us know.

Yes I am extremely tempted. I wonder if this includes Canada or is just the US? I really want that blue one.
@Pokefanmum82 yeah I'm tempted as well. I thought I'd never need a 2DS, but that system looks so amazing.
I bought the sea green MK7 pack a little while back to have a backup system stowed away in my bag. It's a good deal and quite a nice little system. I have big hands, and aside from the bottom corners hitting me just a bit oddly, the layout is fantastic. If you like the look, I doubt you'll ever be disappointed with this.
$99 is the sweet spot, but releasing them on the same day as Pokemon ASOR and not having a bundle seems like another missed opportunity from Nitneod. Though knowing Nintendo if they did a bundle it would be with Pokemon X and Y.
On the bright side, I don't think there will be a "new 2DS" so people purchasing these wont feel bad when the new 3DS models are announced for the west. Japan still doesn't have 2DS, how good can they be?
I have a 3DS and an XL and may in the future buy a new 3DS model.
And with that I am really tempted on this one. I love that clear blue design. For a Benjamin too? I thought they still were $130.
@sinalefa They started clearing out the standalone 2DS at Gamestop for $99 or $89 depending on model, and the new ones come with a download code for a game at $130. It's been a relatively quiet steal.
Get money money money
@Vineleaf
Oh nice. I would rather get the standalone unit.
I also never wanted a 2DS but I'm getting this blue one. Transparent is just brilliant stuff.
I will collect all 2ds styles an colors.
I've never been a fan of transparent handhelds or controllers. To me they just look cheap - like they should be full of candy or something.
Anyways, to each their own.
@Vineleaf I managed to snag a sea green 2ds as well, during that sale they were having. While it was a pain to find this specific color, it is pretty. The layout is great and really comfortable...better than the clamshell. The design also appears to make it so the screens feel more normal-sized, if that makes sense; I mean, despite having the same sized screens as the original, they don't look tiny, whereas looking at the OG 3DS and they do. .-.
Anyways...considering picking up a blue one of these.
I'm in the market for a 3DS, so a transparent red console for $100 is very very tempting!
@Pokefanmum82 usually whats comes to the states comes to us canadians, so I'm hoping it's a yes too ^-^
Oh Nintendo, you always find a way to keep me from saving. The red one looks awesome, if I see one at a good price around here I might buy it
NEED
I like the blue one but I'll wait for the new 3DS
I would wait for the new 3DS but who knows when next year that it is coming out plus I'm thinking of selling my XL because I don't play half of the games that I have downloaded anymore. So if this comes out here in Canada I am buying it and then I will put my 3DS XL on eBay. And use the money from that sale to buy the new 3DS when it comes out here.
Looks great and affordable, might buy one for my nephew this Christmas along with Pokemon Omega Ruby.
I was hoping we'd get these!
I'm gonna get two. A red one for me to tinker with, in terms of recording equipment, with Omega Ruby, and a blue one with Alpha Sapphire and Smash for my fiancee.
