Popular online service Loot Crate has been delivering monthly boxes of geeky goodies for quite some time now, mailing a differently themed package straight to front doors on a subscription basis. While these collectibles are often gaming-related as is, Nintendo's recent partnership with the site aims to ensure that fans can get started on their amiibo collection without ever having to leave the house.
By signing up for an amiibo subscription service — you can see a list of eligible countries here — you can receive 10 pre-selected amiibo figurines separated out into three Loot Crate shipments, all just in time for the Holiday season. Hype has been building for Nintendo's latest venture as new forms of compatibility have been announced, making this delivery system a convenient way to get your hands on a select few without the hassle of checking stores.
So far Mario, Pikachu, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi have been announced as definite inclusions, with the remaining five to be revealed through Loot Crate soon. Further surprises have also been hinted at, directed towards Super Smash Bros. and amiibo fans in particular, so this could be a service to keep an eye on.
Right now you can join the waitlist by providing your email address on Loot Crate's amiibo page, and be among the first to know when further details are released, such as the price of this service.
Are you interested? Or maybe holding out to see those final five characters? Either way, let us know with a comment below!

Neat Idea
meh. I'd rather buy them at stores
I'm tempted by this but it all comes down to pricing.
I'm definitely interested!! If the pricing beats getting them in store, I will sign up for this. I love Loot Crate already — you really can't go wrong with their service.
As long bundles for the Netherlands aren't twice as expensive as the US (like the current Loot Crates), I'm interested.
Edit:
Meh no Italy.
Never heard of Loot Crate. What about the countries that don't have this service? (Not that i would use it anyway)
It all comes down to price.
After the Direct I can't see the value in amiibo at all yet, I'll wait till they are cheap in some toy store or supermarket.
If it's cheaper than buying them all separately, then I might have to. But I really do want to get the Marth Figure, super nice looking.
@JellySplat Choose wisely.
I just wonder if they will be cheaper through Lootcrate. Course, not like these figures are likely to retain value as mass produced as they are planning to be...
I've been interested in the past,but it's never just Nintendo swag..this looks to be just that .I'm subscribed ,hoping it can be done month by month...
I already preordered 3, so as long as this service is cheaper and doesn't include those 3 I might be interested.
@Jazzer94 lol, good point.
I'll tell you which ones do not have that problem, Samus, and Captain falcon. They look truly amazing.
@Jazzer94 I'm shuddering behind my computer.
It's hard to say how much of a power house this amiibo will be for Nintendo. I'm not 100% sold on it but I'm curious how it's going to go over.
They're promoting the hell out of it.
"So far Mario, Pikachu, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi have been announced"
STAR Fox?
It isnt avaibale in my country but I don't care anyway.I want only Link and Sonic's amiibos.Maybe I will get Zelda's if it does something really good in Hyrule Warriors.
@Tsurii897 the weapon for Zelda isn't a new weapon like the spinner though apparently, that was a mistranslation I think
Hmm I heard of loot crate from some YouTuber..
@Jazzer94 i never realised Marth's face changed. The final version looks silly. The more I see of amiibo, the less interested I become.
I'm not going to subscribe to this, because I'm only planning to buy a couple (and I'd like to search for the best-looking ones), plus it's too expensive.
I do think they shouldn't be allowed to use the prototype Amiibo's in promotional imagery anymore, its a misrepresentation of the final product.
Looking at the current normal loot crate prices, it's $28 per month to the UK No offence, but if that's the pricing, then count me out!
I think the pricing changed. I had a 3 months subscription to Germany that just ended (was very happy with the stuff I got), but I'm REALLY sure I paid like 5-10$ less than what its now. 28$ is pretty heavy for what you get and I fear Amiibo won't be different.
Never heard of Loot Crate, but if Skylanders and DI characters are anything to go by these will be cheaper in store. After 3 years of Skylanders - 50 I think - almost every few weeks there is a buy 1 get 1 at a certain % off. Got a lot of Skylanders for $5. If these are always retail they are going to be slow sellers.
@bouncer0304 In my case, if it's $28, then I'll definitely buy one. That's only a little more expensive than two amiibo individually!
But, I'm pretty sure that they will have a different price that they will announce later.
i'll probably just get one box, i REALLY needed to get a lootcrate and this looks like the place to start.
So it's just amiibo? Sounds cool! I'm wondering how much it'll cost.
I hope Donkey Kong doesn't knock on my door because I don't have any bananas for him.
This looks pretty nice, but I can only see this having purpose if it it's cheaper than buying them at a store.
It's a cool idea, but I'm not interested in owning as many as possible, just the ones I like. So, this offer won't be for me.
Eh, Amazon?
So do I just wait for them to send me an email and then subscribe within a certain period of time?
@Jazzer94
It's Murth!!
@Jazzer94 Sorry, I might've missed out on something, but what is that comparison from? Please tell me that's not the amount of variation in the Amiibo's....
@hypercoyote No, that's just what the final Marth amiibo looks like.
@Luneth The one on the right? You're kidding, right?
As said before, it's all about the price. Also, I wouldn't want duplicates with Amiibos I might buy separately.
Oooooh, I'd totally pay for that. As long as the price is comparable or better than going to the store and buying them myself. Or at least ordering on Amazon (considering the price of shipping and handling).
I kinda want to amass a collection. This sounds like a great way to do that.
@hypercoyote pretty sure the one on the left is the final..
@B3ND3R Okay, I was going to be really surprised. Nintendo is so strict on it's IP, I couldn't see them allowing that through.
@Jazzer94 - I have to say, I ddin't really think much of the differences between the E3 amiibo and the new production models, but now that Amazon has them all up and we can zoom in on the differences, just wow. A really bad wow.
http://www.amazon.com/Luigi-amiibo-nintendo-wii-u/dp/B00O97ZWVC/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1415645579&sr=8-15&keywords=amiibo
Captain Falcon looks like he fell out of an airplane onto a white picket fence pole. And Luigi's poor frozen sausage. The Villager stepped into some gum. The characters themselves don't really bother me all that much, but as somebody who's collected 50 Skylanders over the past 3 years those multicolored plastics are just a really odd decision, and WAY too noticeable. That blue on Fox is way too noticable, I can't tell if he's trying on shoes or starting a race.
Amazon also has the old group photo when they all had little clear polls so people can play "spot the differences". But to paraphrase the immortal words of Dr. Zaius - "don't look for them, you may not like what you find."
@rjejr Zelda looks like she just had a magical related accident in her pants.
I'm hoping there's at least a Loot Crate-exclusive variant for one of the figures, like Fire Mario or something. I was previously hoping Club Nintendo would've done that this year for the Platinum Rewards since it would've been just in time for the Amiibo release.
That's neat, but I get my game money by cutting grass at a company, which can be hard to save up for games so until I'm 18 I could never do these loot crates.
@rjejr
I agree the stands really distract from the figures themselves. When I look at the pictures its the thing that keeps drawing my attention. It is so out of place. Even with princess Zelda, its like she has a purple mold of a leg under her dress. Just very ackward.
Its a good thing for Nintendo to pair with lootcrate for a service like this. Lootcrates have become very popular so it will help give the product a lot more visibility. There are people paying $20 a month for random toys/posters, so I can see people who don't even have a Wii U subscribing to the Ambiio deal just for the sake of having the toys.
As for me it'll depend on how much the savings is compared to retail. If its too similar, I'll wait around in hopes of a B1G150% off type deal to come around before starting up collection. I don't think the deals will be anywhere near as plentiful as they are with Skylanders/Infinity but I'm sure retailers will have some.
@Jazzer94 Yeah I'm a little hurt by final Marth's face. I hope the rest of the FE characters don't suffer the same fate.
I signed up for the waitlist, but (as many of the above comments have stated) my participation will fall mainly on price.
@Jazzer94 @darthllama - Noticed that about Zelda, but she's a princess so it seemed unseemly to mention it, though it did put this theme song in my head - you can skip ahead to 1:00:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCtcgI4BcIQ
Only ones I REALLY want at this time is the Mario and Samus ones so a deal like this isn't for me!
Eh, I'm good with buying them at Walmart where I work - I get a 10% discount on them while I'm at it.
@B3ND3R
Pretty sure you're wrong...
@hypercoyote
B3ND3R is wrong. there is a noticeable drop in quality from the e3 figures. A quick google search will show you comparisons from a few sites.
@Ryu_Niiyama Oh god i hope the Ike figure doesn't look terrible as the Marth one.He's one of the only few figure's i plan on buying.
@Jazzer94 @JellySplat Ign has All 12 amiibo's unboxing and pictures here is marth. Right click on the image and open it in a new tab and you can see it close up.
Source: IGN amiibo unboxing, Marth does not look that bad compared to what is shown by @Jazzer94 (Marth missing a lips/mouth?). See for yourself.
Just out of curiosity when people say they want to go to the store and handpick them is their really that big of a defiance between two? I only ask because I have some preordered through Amazon? Thanks
@midnafanboy Actually from what I can tell by squinting at the pic that was posted on Nintendo Everything, Ike looks pretty good. I think these are final pics since they have the stands on them. so far they aren't colored. Though this is going to get pretty expensive really quickly since there are 11 in the next wave. I hope they come out in January and not December.
I need to know the price first.
I'd rather buy at a shop where I can natch the lowest price and also make sure I buy the best quality figures.
@babyguess
kotaku's unboxing & up close pics. looks like @Jazzer94 was right.

I quite like the Marth figure. I've seen some awful official Nintendo figures before, so in my opinion, the Amiibo isn't actually that bad in comparison to the old Mario figures Nintendo released a few years ago.
@babyguess As I said choose wisely this Marth still looks bad face wise but not as bad but the face quality for Marth took a huge hit from the E3 version.
Never heard of Lootcrate until today so that would be something I have to look into.
I was only planning to get between 4-7 from the first 2 waves but if Lootcrate works out the same or even cheap than the stores, I'll subscribe.
Does it matter if you live in UK and get amiibo this way which are from the US?? Region free?
@Jazzer94 oh lawd...that...can't be real
Depends on price, and range of amiibos offered. Is the amiibo that is sent a random one (for every customer, or per month for all subscribers)? If it is all random, is there a chance you could get a duplicate?
The problem with this is that I want some fairly specific amiibos, but I may be interested in this if they have a large enough incentive to go this route (much cheaper price, special edition amiibo, if other non-amiibo Nintendo stuff is included). Otherwise, it seems like this deal is geared towards those who want to collect them all, or who don't have any preferences or who like surprises.
I got the notification email so here's the deal:
