If you caught the original announcement back in August, you’ll already know Renegade Kid’s next project is a Metroidvania-style action-platformer titled Xeodrifter for the 3DS eShop. So for those who did miss this exciting bit of news, Jools Watsham and company have now released a debut trailer of the upcoming title.
As promised, the space crawler is pretty-much the indie-game equivalent of Metroid. Players take on the role of an interstellar drifter travelling through the stars whilst on a mission of exploration. Based on the trailer, players will spend their time jetting from planet to planet, traversing the highs and lows of space stations, fending off dangerous intergalactic enemies and even jumping between the foreground and background of the game's environments in a similar fashion to Mutant Mudds.
Take a look at the trailer below and let us know in the comments if you're interested in Renegade Kid’s latest 3DS eShop title.

Looks like it has some nice play mechanics.
Good gameplay but I'm not a fan of the character's model/artstyle.
Why can't xeodrifter crawl?
@shaneoh
Good one ;D
For me it looks like Metroid in new suit, but it's game. Game looks pretty good.
Interesting mechanics, but the art style is horrific.
Seems like it is Mutant Mudds mixed with Metroid. Looks absolutely fantastic!
Very Interresting ! I'm looking forward to playing it !
I loved Mutant Mudds so I know I'm gonna love this!
Looks a lot like Metroid rather than it being different.......
Looks like it could be a fun game! Any release date yet?
So does that mean Treasurenauts isn't coming then?
Looks GREAT, can't wait for this one. LOVE the art style!
I would imagine playing this and thinking to myself 'I wish I was playing Metroid' .I feel confident in my prediction that the Wii U will have a new Metroid announced next year.3DS users? We'll you'll have Xeodrifter
This definitely looks interesting. I really enjoyed Mutant Mudds, so I imagine I'd like this, too. On the other hand, though, my financial situation's got me only spending cash on necessities. On top of that, I still haven't beaten Super Metroid, yet. I've got 20 minutes before I go to class... SUPER METROID, HERE I COME!
if its under 5 bucks i will buy it.
@taffy @Tops @taffy "The first thing I expect many people might think is, “I thought you were working on Treasurenauts!” Yes, well, I have a confession to make. We were working on Treasurenauts – and it was progressing really well – then, one day I got a bee in my bonnet to make a [Metroidvania] game ... it started when I mocked up a 2D demake of Moon Chronicles for fun a while back. It came together much better than I expected, and I really liked how the main little space man turned out. I let that mock-up sit dormant for a few months while we finished up the real Moon Chronicles and also continued to work on Treasurenauts, but the idea of the 2D space game came back to the front of my mind one day"
Pretty much means they stopped (really) working on it ages ago to focus on Moon, the failed kickstarter and this. I'm sure they will get back to it once this is out, or maybe they will go back to Mutant Mudds 2 which is also in suspended development.
Until these cowards either release the rest of moon or offer a refund for the people they bamboozled into getting the first chapter I won't buy anything they do.
It's just what we asked for, apparently. This was the result of Cult County not passing it's Kickstarter goal, and I can see that it's more of a "You want pixels? Here, have pixels" mindset behind the game. It looks disorganized, over-compressed, and unrefined - Mutant Mudds at least had a certain bit of charm to it's adorkable designs.
still waiting for them to say something bout cult county, or moon episode 2
It sure is pixeltastic.
I'll keep an eye on it.
Looks good, but I can't be excited about it yet with Renegade Kid's seemingly random release schedule. I wouldn't be suprised if this ended up going in limbo like almost all of their other games
Baaaaaaaaaaarf
Focus, RK. Focus.
Looks great. What about Wii u?
Darn, I thought this was for WiiU. Too bad.
Still waiting on Moon Chronicles in EU. But im excited for this.
After Mutant Mudds, this guys can have my money for anything they make. But this looks fantastic.
DO WANT!
Instant buy, day 1
I've noticed that Renegade Kid is extremely sporadic with the development and completion of their games... They jump from project to project without finishing ( Or at least getting close to finishing) the first one prior to working on the other game, it's kinda frustrating
@3dcaleb
I don't think you'll be buying it then... It would surprise me greatly if they price this under $5
I want this on Wii U!
TREASURNAAAAAAAUTS!!!
Well, at least this looks like it could be good... But I really want to play Treasurnauts. I've been patient since last Christmas.
Looks awesome. I love those guys. But what happened to treasurenauts???
Doesn't look bad.
I'm sure it's as fun as any of his other games but that character design leaves a lot to be desired.
