Australia's finest will come together at PAX

Nintendo Australia has announced the upcoming PAX event to be held in Melbourne will host the Pokémon Video Game Australian National Championships for trainers in Australia and New Zealand to take part in.

Trainers will battle it out using their copy of Pokémon Black and White 2 at the expo, and those who place in the top two of the three age divisions will get the opportunity to travel to the 2013 Pokémon Video Game World Championships in Vancouver, Canada, which will be held on 9th-11th August.

Of course, PAX Australia is currently sold out, but if you're looking to gain entry to compete there's still hope. Nintendo will be holding tournaments around the country that will allow winners to gain entry. There are also separate tickets to be given away at these events that won't require you to enter a tournament.

The competitions have started today (30th June), with Perth being the first stop and other cities competing in the coming weeks. The full list of locations and dates is below:

  • Perth (Supanova Pop Culture Expo) Sunday 30th June
  • Melbourne (Deakin Edge - Federation Square) Saturday 6th July
  • Brisbane (Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre) Sunday 7th July
  • Adelaide (AVCon Anime and Video Game Convention) Saturday 13th July
  • Sydney (Luna Park) Sunday 14th July

The event will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds on the 20th and 21st July. Will you be attending? Let us know in the comment section below.
