Ubisoft has stepped up its gradual unveiling of Rayman Legends, with the latest trailer and screenshots showing off the "20 000 Lums under the Sea" world.
Rather than simply being underwater levels in the style of those seen in Rayman Origins, this world will introduce new enemies and a light and dark mechanic for "stealth and infiltration"; that certainly goes beyond the "run very fast and punch any enemies in your way" strategy of the musical levels shown off recently.
We shouldn't be too surprised at this approach, as one of the strengths of the level design in Origins was the scope for exploration and seeking out hidden secrets. On top of that it also look very pretty, as you can see in the trailer below.
Of separate interest is that Wii U pre-orders from GAME in the UK can get free content that dresses Barbara as Aveline De Grandpré, the female assassin from Assassin's Creed III Liberation. That makes lots of sense, as that was a Vita-only release. Nevertheless, you can check that out below the trailer.
So, what do you think of this new world, and are you excited about Rayman Legends on the Wii U?

That skin does look pretty cool.
I don't know who that character is, but I really hope Wii U gets an exclusive character (in the US actually).
I'm still hoping we get something for playing the crap out of the free app until the game comes out.
COOOOLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!
COOOOLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!
I still have to finish Origins. I think I reached world 3 or maybe didn't finish World 2...don't remember
@Thomas After examining that ad closely it looks to be just a general AC skin and not specifically an Aveline costume. Is there some other info from Ubisoft that says its Aveline?
The image for the pre-order bonus says the costume is based on AC: Black Flag, not AC3L. It does vaguely looks like the AC3L heroine, but how else would Ubisoft design a skin for a female character that instantly reminds you of AC? (aside from just giving her Ezio's hood)
I like that the enemies in the stealthy part of the video had Splinter Cell designs. What a clever reference!
Oh my gosh! This game is going to be a plaftorming masterpiece! The creativity... the vivid details... the brilliant level design... and the tight controls, cartoonish hand-drawn designs, and the wacky gameplay twists all make this game look like a game that'll truly define the Wii U! You rock, Rayman! Rayman Origins rocks, Rayman Legends rocks, and you rock! This game looks like it'll be the Wii U's best 2D platformer and I will definitely buy this! Keep it up, Ubisoft!
Can't wait for this game! It's going to be EPIC!!!! I've been having a blast with the daily/weekly challenges app ;D
@ArkOne77 I'm glad you're excited! It feels great being a plaftorming character again. It's much better than dealing with those annoying Rabbids all day. (shutters)
Man, this game is looking truly amazing. Looking forward to it!
@ClassicSonicFan Wow... you must really like my games. I'm glad to see a die-hard fan of my games. This game will not disappoint and it will be an A-grade platformer, I can tell you that much. I'm sorry about the delay, I tried to convince Ubisoft to let my game be released earlier, but they were convinced making Ray-Man Legends a multiplatform game would improve sales. Nonetheless, I'm certain you'll have a great time with my new adventure, @ClassicSonicFan. I hope you enjoy! Also, make sure to pick up my Ray-Man Legends Challenges App. I'm sure it'll keep you occupied until Ray-Man Legends's release!
Why did my creators make Barbara look old? And did I just see the Magician? Oh man... I do not want to fight that guy again. sigh... I guess if it pleases the fans, I'll do it. Also, my creators went all out designing the levels. I gotta hand it to them, these environments look creative! Not to mention the ability to control my buddy Murphy through the Gamepad. My pal Murphy really needed more attention. Just don't make me die in the game, okay players? I hate dying!
@Ray-Man.....I am glad Rayman made it back to the platforming world also! Origins was fantastic....but Legends is on a whole new level. Being an artist myself, I can't praise the artwork, characters, color & level design enough! Truly is amazing.
Wii U would have sold a lot more if it wasn't for the delay
Man, I am so excited for this game, despite being let down by the delay. The exclusive skin for Barbara looks cool.
Anybody else notice that the baddies in some of those levels looked like they were wearing night-vision goggles similar to Sam Fisher's signature goggles? I think that's a cool nod.
Rayman Legends looks wonderful.
Games looks great! I have yet to purchase Rayman Origins since my back log was so full at the time of its release. I really should get on that ASAP!
I keep getting more impressed each time I see new footage of this game. It looks really interesting and fun!
@FiveDigitLP I actually didn't notice that. That makes this game that much more epic if it was intentional.
mario and luigi rayman skins anyone
This looks beautiful! I love the idea of stealth involved. I also noticed that the Magician is back. I wonder what he's up to...
Hope there's tons of these levels! It seems like most platformer series, apart from Starfy, really don't like to have more than a few water levels per game.
I think it looks great and it's fun to play.
Wait, so this pre-order bonus isn't available in Canada?
I need this game already
So...we get the worst out of the three skins. 360 gets Splinter Cell skin for Rayman...PS3 gets Edward Kenway sin...and we get a skin from a Vita AC game....plus, she looks too similar to Undead Barbara...it's actually like a mixture of both.
There are many more possibilities for a better Wii U skin. I mean, imagine getting a Rayman skin disguised as a Rabbid.
@Joshers744 My best bet would be that Murray is our exclusive. Now if it already confirmed for the other platforms than idk
For some reason, the hand-drawn characters remind me of King's Quest VII.
@Ras Holy crud, someone else who remembers that game. lol
@MagicEmperor My favorites were 3 and 6. I guess I like Alexander the best! I miss the glory days of Sierra.
@Inev I know, but I think that's just to promote it. Ubisoft's press details specified the character from Liberation
@-KwB- Yes but Ubisoft isn't in the business of being a charity..> ITs up to Nintendo to sell the system. And Nintendo can't sell the system without putting out their big titles.
@element187 Jep, I blamed them at first for ditching us but hey they are still bringing RL, AC 4 and Watch_Dogs that all seem pretty amazing ! So it is not that they left us out completely ! The idea of ZombiU2 is welcome !!
I'm glad to see the return of the Magician! He's being a "James Bond" villain this time!
