Konami has been fairly adamant that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 isn't coming to the Wii U, thanks simply to a lack of available resource and time.

This is perfectly understandable; developer Mercury Steam has only just finished work on the 3DS title Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate, and has its hands full developing Lords of Shadow 2 for the 360 and PS3. There's only so much one studio can do, after all.

However, producer Dave Cox has always been very keen to stress that the lack of a Wii U version isn't to be taken as a snub to Nintendo fans, and in an exclusive interview with Nintendo Life, he revealed that he's refusing to rule it out entirely.

Nintendo Life: Castlevania has a long and proud association with Nintendo systems - you've stated that Lords of Shadow 2 is out of the question due to time and resource constraints, but are there any plans whatsoever for the instalment on Wii U?

Dave Cox: No plans for those very reasons, but I wouldn't rule it out completely.

While Cox has clearly stopped well short of saying the game is definitely coming to the Wii U, it's positive that he won't say categorically that it's not going to happen. Hopefully Mirror of Fate will be such a commercial success that Konami will see the benefit of giving Nintendo fans the next chapter in the Lords of Shadow series on their home consoles, too.

The full interview with Dave Cox will be published on this very site later today, and don't forget that we're currently running a UK competition to win a copy of Mirror of Fate and poster signed by Cox himself.
