Brace yourself for a truly rare week: Virtual Console receives two games today, putting it level-pegging with WiiWare and DSiWare for the first time in ages. What's occurring this week? Read on and find out.
Virtual Console
Magical Drop II (NeoGeo, 900pts) – A cutesy colour-coded puzzler from way back, this one found its way to North America first so we'll have a full review for you very soon.
Karnov's Revenge (NeoGeo, 900pts) – This week's NeoGeo double header is rounded out by another 2D fighter from Data East. The best part? Do well enough against the human fighters and you can take on a bull. We'll grab this game by the horns for our review shortly.
WiiWare
Soccer Bashi (Icon Games, 500pts) – It's Breakout with football, in the simplest terms. With stacks of stages and a level editor for you to make your own creations, we'll soon see if this hits the back of the net or just sails wide of the mark.
Sneezies (Chillingo, 500pts) – A variation on the chain reaction genre, Sneezies comes from the same stable as Angry Birds so hopefully will match that title for addictive powers. We'll have a full review soon.
DSiWare
Tetris Party Live (Tetris Online Inc., 800pts) – It's Tetris, it's portable and it's good, with online multiplayer modes through Nintendo WiFi Connection. If you fancy some portable block-dropping beats, have a read of our Tetris Party Live review for the full lowdown.
Rocks N' Rockets (Tik Games LLC, 500pts) – From the press release this sounds like Missile Command on the go, which could work out quite nicely, so we'll dive in and bring you a full review soon.
Press release time commencing in 5, 4, 3, 2...

Revisit the 90’s with this puzzle action game released by Data East in 1996. The rules are simple: control the clown to grab and throw balloons as they appear on screen. Line up three or more balloons of the same colour in a vertical row and watch them burst. Use Special balloons, Arrow balloons, Rainbow balloons and more to create combos, whether battling a host of comical characters in VS CPU Mode, or taking on the challenge of Puzzle Mode. Both modes support player-versus-player action, so you can take a trip back to 1996 and bring all your friends with you.Virtual Console - KARNOV'S REVENGE
(D4 Enterprise, Neo Geo, 900 Wii Points)
Return to the Great Grapple martial arts tournament in this fast-paced sequel to the well-loved Fighter's History. This time, thirteen combatants have emerged to test their skills against the best of the best in a series of dramatic showdowns; among them, bosses Clown and Karlov from the original game return as playable characters. Use a wide range of secret attacks and a weak spot system that assigns a vulnerable area to each fighter, and if you fight well enough the bull from the bonus stage of the Data East classic Karate Champ will also make a special appearance!

What!? No Cave Story this week!? Why, Nintendo, why!? >_< RAGE!
@Bass X0
Well at least you guys got two VC games.
Another two 500 points games for WiiWare this week. Seems that Nintendo noticed that many people buy games because they're cheap and not because they're good.
Its great to see 2 VC games but I'm waiting on Mario Party 2 which is released sometime this month. Just tell us what day it is, Nintendo!
I love these obscure Neo Geo fighters. They remind of when I was a kid and I'd come accross them in places like cinemas, airports or leisure centres. At the time you'd be obsessed with Street Fighter 2 but the competition was always fascinating. You'd never heard of them before, they looked pretty cool, end up being kind of fun and then you never see them again. Playing these types of titles is just what the VC is for.
Its been a while since we got two VC games in one week. The Neo Geo games seem to be coming (relatively speaking) thick and fast at the moment, hopefully there are plenty more to come.
Hang on, I thought Cave Story was coming this week! Well, I'll be interested to see how Soccer Bashi turns out as I do like a good game of Breakout.
Ah, my mistake I left off the zero in my mind. Good thing is using my Club Nintendo stars I'm not out of pocket for it or Flowerworks, which I just bought last night.
Tetris Party Live and Soccer Bashi (Arkanoid variant) are instas. Magical Drop too I think.
Cave Story 10th Dec
t
The best thing about this week's stuff is that it's only one week until next week's stuff.
I would have got Karnovs Revenge if its 60hz.
Nice little fighting game with good 2 in ones.
Have the saturn version.
Ouch, sucks that you guys got Tetris for 8 dollars instead of 5. That's a little surprising to see 2 VC games though. Ian't Cave Story coming next week? I don't think they said this week. I could be wrong though...
Should have released Donkey Kong 64. I am disappoint.
Hopefully Sneezies can live up to the iPhone greatness of Angry Birds!!
And 2 Virtual Console games!??!
Two VC games for my French country !!
Breakout + Football + Giant Flying Demonic Flameskulls?
...I had a dream like that once.
Dang why can't we get two VC games more often!? There's plenty of them rated for release. It's probably just because christmas is getting close.
Here's hoping the U.S. gets equal treatment.
Never going to buy VC games unless they're 60hz(sin and punishment etc).
I don't know what the hell Nintendo are thinking. Big petition sent to them( http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?wii60pal) and they don't even reply.Mario 25th game 50hz thus lots of people cancel their orders. This is madness!
Funny ive noticed that in france, spain, portugal people dont mind 50hz at all. This comes from playing allot of the King of Fighters players.
Just look at Ikaruga on GC, a hardcore game clearly not suited to the casual gamer yet released as a 50hz (casual) version for europe
Perhaps we are just a small island to nintendo.
TPL for 800np's. :0
Sorry you guys got the short end of the stick on that one, but I think its worth it for your looking for an alternative to the cart versions.
Did they even release those over there?
Karnov's Revenge? Shoulda been the NES one...
I see the annual VC holiday rush is on. Yay!
Magical Drop II is fantastic. For me this friday.
my point is proven by posters up above lol.
Once again people put quantity over quality when it comes to VC games. So sad
Where's my Cave Story and Shantae? Oh well, still a good week by normal standards.
@26
Cave Story is coming out next Friday 10th December for the WiiWare thank god!
I'm dissapointed, I was going to buy tetris party live but I'm not getting it for 800 points.
The Tetris Party Live thing may be a mistake, the PR says it's 800 but NoE's website is saying 500. I'd say you guys should keep an eye out when the games actually hit.
Karnov Revenge looks interesting.
Also, Cave Story doesn't come until December 10th, so be patient.
50Hz Neo Geo games equal an automatic 'no' for me. I hope the arcade Super Hang-On gets release, SEGA were pretty good at bringing their other arcade games from Japan.
@outrun2sp - yep, Ikaruga, another Import I can no longer play on my PAL Wii thanks to Nintendo's 'performance enhancing' updates... At least I still have the GC.
@WarioFan63 You're right, I hope NOE's website is right and not the pr because I'm not buying it if the pr is right.
At least you guys get more than one VC game...
I'm with mario party fan, Nintendo should really give us a solid release date Mario party 2.
@Sean Aaron (#8) - Speaking of Club Nintendo, the North America branch got updated today with new Super Mario Bros. Premium hand towel rewards. Just want to mention posting news about that.
Anyways, very good week for EU for the VC!
Why is it that NeoGeo are the only games to be released on the Virtual Console as of late? Rather annoying if you ask me.
o Gods of Olympus 2 VC games tonight? This is great
Annoying how? Its largely been neglected on the VC in all and its only recently its trying to catch up. Anyway, these two games were ported to the Super Famicom; would you rather have had those as imports instead of the originals?
When is Lufia coming?
I just checked on the dsi shop and tetris party live is still 500 points! I'll still get it now.
Nintendo continues to ensure I don't give it my money with more 50hz output.
Yes Betagam. 50hrz = bad. I believe you may have mentioned something like that once or twice before. And I have no doubt you will be mentioning it once or twice in the future too.
@Bass it's 50Hz not "hrz". Betagam is a great guy standing up for PAL gamers. I would like all my games to be 60Hz so that they play on my television right. It's no fun buying a game and having it not work. Merry Christmas.
