Ubisoft recently premiered a new trailer for the next iteration in its popular Prince of Persia series, The Forgotten Sands, scheduled for release on May 18th. Monsters, magic, captivating narration and some brief bubble-riding are just a few of the things you'll see in the new video, posted at the bottom of this story. For those not in the know, it also strongly hints at a co-operative multiplayer mode and, what might turn this from a possible to a definite purchase for some, the Wii-exclusive inclusion of the original 1992 game. Below is the full press release.
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands for Wii is a new installment in the popular Prince of Persia series and presents a new adventure within the Sands of Time universe. After leaving his father’s kingdom to prove his worth, the Prince is drawn toward a mysterious realm. He quickly discovers that he must harness his acrobatic abilities and powers over the environment to not only survive, but to save a mystic palace from unfathomable evil.

I would say day 1 purchase if the fact that it's being used to coincide with the movie's release didn't make me a bit nervous.
After the last PS3- and XBox360-exclusive game, I have not believed that there would ever be a PoP again on a tv based Nintendo console. I'm glad it is so. And it already comes next month? Huh, then I quickly have to put some money aside.
And, Ubisoft, I also want Splinter Cell to be continued on the Wii. What about that?
Looks awesome.
Great to hear the original Prince's voice and not the one from Warrior Within.
Also the Wii version will include the SNES version of the original!
That just made it a must buy Nice to see that companies are still offering bonus content like that in the days of Virtual Consoles. This is exactly the sort of thing that helps people choose one version over another.
The graphics don't look very good and I don't like the fact they lied to us. They said the original SNES version would be exclusive to the Wii but PS3 and 360 owners can get a free download of it too.
It's not even that I want the exclusive content, I just don't like being lied too.
@oregano
no we dont get the snes version we get the remake of it on the psn or at least i think it is but either way they get the persia game thats on thier stores
and on the other news ps3 version it is for me
I kinda outgrow from the PoP games but this one looks fun. I won't buy it day one, but I'll keep an eye on it.
Very, very interesting.
WEll, if Ubisoft delivers and the Wii and PS3 games are actually different I might purchase both.
should be a great game for the wii
@EdEN
It's been confirmed that the Wii version is completely original. It's being made by a seperate team comprised of people who worked on the Sands of Time. I read that in Nintendo Power.
I agree that the graphics don't look THAT good, but still is a must-buy
The game may look a little muddy, but it's supposed to run at a consistent 60fps. That, and it does have a fair amount of enviornmental details such as decent draw distance. I got that out of the trailer anyway.
I hope this turns out at least as good as the sands of time trilogy. I'm a little worried though. I'll see what the reviews are like but so far I'm planning on getting it.
I remember the gamecube ones looking better than this, that's just terrible.
lookin good but not 60 fps
I'm not worried about what PS3 or 360 owners get.
Let's just hope that PAL owners get the NTSC version of the SNES game and not the 50hz PAL original.
I would probably have a little more confidence if the game didnt have a release date yet. May 18th is just too soon. I`ve only just started hearing about this game it seems. Plus I have like 5 other games I want to buy in the next few months!
I read an N-Gamer preview of this. The Wii version has mixtures of good ideas and not so good ideas. May have to await some reviews.
