The Virtual Console for the Wii will be a built-in emulator that let's you download and play games from other consoles, from NES to N64, and consoles from other companies as well. With Microsoft's successful Xbox live marketplace, and Sony's upcoming download service for Playstation 3, virtual console can prove to be important for Nintendo's success.

Yesterday we posted a list of 26 supposed titles for the Virtual Console, but it seems like it was just speculation, at least according to Nintendo. Now we have seven games, and this time it seems to be true. The strange thing here, is that none of the games are Nintendo games, in fact all of them are from Sega, Nintendo's old rival, but still, it's great games.

The following games were revealed by ESRB: Altered Beast, Ecco the Dolphin, Columns, Golden Axe, Ristar, Sonic the Hedgehog and Toe Jam & Earl. All of them are for the Sega Mega-Drive, and they should be familiar for those of you who have been around for a while.

According to ESRB, all the games will get an "E" rating, which is kinda weird, since both Golden Axe and Altered Beast are pretty violent.
