Nintendo issued press release today tells us all about how well the DS is selling, thanks to the holiday period and new Mario Kart bundles. Worldwide sales are now in excess of 13 million.

"Worldwide sales have shown a similar pattern with millions turning to Nintendo for their portable gaming. Approximately 13 million Nintendo DS are now in the hands of people all around the world."

After talking about the continued GBA SP sales, Nintendo UK also go on to remind us that its 2006 and what we might look forward to this year.

"European gamers have a lot to look forward to in 2006, with the launch of Prof. Kawashima's Brain Training: How old is your brain? and Animal Crossing: Wild World, both of which have been a huge success in Japan, selling over one million each, and are launching soon in Europe."

The handheld market continues to grow for Nintendo who will remain firmly in the number one slot going into the new financial year.
