Welcome to our boss guides for Super Mario RPG on Nintendo Switch and SNES.

Remember the huge sword from the beginning of the game You're finally about to take it down and get Bowser's Keep back for the Koopa King. Exor is probably the hardest regular boss in Super Mario RPG and also comes after Boomer, another hard-hitting fight in Bowser's Keep.

In this guide, we're here to give you the best tips on how to defeat this huge sword.

How to beat Exor

Recommended party: Mario, Geno, Peach (or Bowser)

You'll be thrown straight into this fight after defeating Boomer, so take some time to prepare at the start if you need to. You can target Exor’s left eye, right eye, mouth, and the hilt. The hilt is actually Exor himself, and it can’t be damaged until at least one of his other parts has been destroyed.

If you have Rock Candy, use it here to deal great damage to every part at once, then focus on casting multi-target attacks and spells with Geno and Peach/Bowser.

Exor can deal pretty high multi-target damage with a number of spells, but one way to get a round is is by using Peach's Mute special. This will stop them from attacking and minimize the amount of healing you need to do.

When Exor’s eyes are destroyed, the game will tell you that protection will disappear and you’ll be all clear to attack the hilt.

Unleash your strongest single-target attacks on Exor while you can, because eventually, the eyes will reawaken, and you'll have to repeat the process.

This is an endurance battle, so keep topped up on healing if you need to. Rinse, repeat, and eventually you'll come out on top.
