Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition is all about destroying hordes – and we mean hordes – of typical Zelda opponents in your quest to grab the Master Sword and 'rescue' Zelda. It's only natural, then, that you want to unlock all of the various weapons on offer.
In this guide, we're going to help you do just that. We've put together a list of all of the weapons together by character, and included notes on where each of the weapons and weapon upgrades can be found. Happy hunting!
If you're wondering how to unlock a few of the characters on this list, check out our complete guide on how to unlock every character. We've also got a list of costumes and how to unlock them (including the Breath of the Wild costumes) and, if you want to give a particular character a boost, we've also run a list of all of the heart containers.

While it's nice to not see amiibo required to unlock things in game, it would make a nice shortcut for people who already have the amiibo. Supposedly there was amiibo support in game - announced back in Februray - do amiibo unlock any of these early?

Here's a supposed list, from back in March, of what amiibo unlock which weapon but honestly I've never heard of the site before now so who knows how accurate it is.

If there are amiibo weapons in game then this article should have at least mentioned that's an option. And it not, well mention that too.
A much more comprehensive guide compared to "C". This is an improvement
@rjejr these are rewards for certain missions, so allowing for alternate means to unlock them would kinda make it less special.
The amiibo will give you weapons for their characters though, but only after you've unlocked them.
That site is outdated, they assumed the spinner works like on the WiiU, while it's more like on the 3ds. While the other sites were only assuming the costumes would be locked behind amiibo (they're not).
At work right now, whiling away the time until i get to go home, have dinner, then crack this open for the weekend. Heyaaah!
I couldn’t unlock one of the Spinner upgrades, it was the level where you had to use the spinner and not take a single hit. That was impossible for me.
@Alikan right? I’m stuck at my white collar job building scheduling spreadsheets and all I wanna do is play games.
I don’t wanna wait, for my woooork to be ovah!
I wanna know right now, when can I plaaay
@Mr_Zurkon get a fairy with the water wall ability to prevent damage. And I think these missions ignore the kill count, so don't mess with anything you don't need to.
(there's another one like that for the dominion rod, you know, the weapon that has you standing still and can't really damage anyone near you)
Can anyone tell me with Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, does it let you choose between four different characters per mission? If so do you all level up at the same rate?
@wazlon it depends on the level you're playing, sometimes you can only use one characters, other times two, and so on.
Characters only gain experience if you're controlling them unfortunately.
@Yosheel Thanks, that's made my decision for buying this game a definite no then. I spent forever grinding on the Wii U version and thought it would be a little easier considering the amount of characters there are to level up.
@Yosheel Nice, thank you.
@Yosheel "The amiibo will give you weapons for their characters though, but only after you've unlocked them."
So, first you have to unlock them by playing, and only then the amiibo will give you more of them? That's odd, but something I guess. And I never did play the 3DS version so I have no idea how that game worked. Probably should have looked into it.
And yeah, I had a feeling those websites were a bit sketchy. Or at the very least outdated.
@rjejr I believe they always give you a good quality weapon, if I remember correctly. So it has its benefits.
@Yosheel "So it has its benefits."
Would be more beneficial to people if they could read about it in the article, no?
@rjejr maybe they'll make a separate amiibo guide.
@Yosheel "a separate amiibo guide"
Well at the rate they're going for this game I suppose that is a real possibility. Though I kind of feel like NL has forgotten about amiibo even more than Nintendo has.
@rjejr
There wouldn't be much to make a guide for. From what I've found, with the Switch version, is if you scan a character from the Zelda franchise it gives you a random weapon drop of an unlocked weapon (usually one that can be used by the character scanned). If you scan an amiibo from any other franchise, it usually gives you either some quantity of materials or rupees, but also has a small chance of a random unlocked weapon drop. This makes scanning non-Zelda franchise amiibos far more useful, in my opinion, as getting rupees/materials can potentially save a lot of grinding time. You can scan up to five unique figures per day (I say unique because I can't, for example, scan my Splatoon and Splatoon 2 Squid Girls on the same day, as the game treats them as the same figure).
@TrixieSparkle Thanks. I'm sensing the end is near for amiibo. The Target near me remodeled and there is no place for toys to life of any kind and Toys R US going under sort of corresponds with the downfall of toys to life. I'm to the point where I'm wondering if Starlink will be cancelled before it's released.
Great, now do a guide like this but for the heart containers.
No, posting a checklist of them doesn't count. Tell us how to get them.
Impa gets her 4+ biggoron’s Sword in the Twilight map, not Termina.
Question. I've noticed to unlock the skills for the Master Sword you need to unlock every weapon for every character, and I assume every level of each weapon? If so, can I just unlock the 4+ weapon for each and then find the others in drops? Seems pointless to not be able to unlock the full master sword until you've pretty mych played every last part if the game.
