Since I'm literally the only one posting on this game. Allow me to share my own thoughts on the matter.
For this game, by NintendoLife Rating Standards. It is indeed worthy of a 5/10 by their definition. It can be a good game but it has to truly be one for you.
However, while you may take my review with a grain of salt, allow me to share my perspectives on said game. (I'm gonna try to drop the long version and just summarize it plain and simple)
In my opinion compared to the previous games (Transformers - Autobots / Decepticons). It takes several steps backwards.
Gone is the Free Roam Open Worlds and Customizable Vehicle Modes, in its place is a wide range of Equipment and Weapons you can find throughout the levels, which is compelling enough I suppose. The collectible Energon is used to upgrade stats.
You mainly play as the Autobot you meet at the beginning of the game. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Sideswipe are only used for side-filler missions (Ironhide and Ratchet are unplayable T^T). Some missions are entertaining while some are bare-bones.
The story for this adaptation of Revenge of the Fallen isn't done any favors whatsoever, its honestly lazy and worse than the movie. Especially when the only reason we learn of what the Decepticons are doing is because they tell bits and pieces of their plans in the boss fight.
The boss fights are laughable, as it is the same repeated process / strategy over and over again. I kid you not when I say the final boss (Megatron) was not hard to beat.
I managed to beat this game in a matter of hours.
I personally reccomend this game only to Die-Hard Transformer Fans, Fans who just want some Transformer Action (Which it can decently provide), or even just for Collecting Sake. However, if you ask me how the Decepticon version is different; from what I hear, its not any different. It just has a different coat of paint.
This is one of the many Transformers Games I would love to direct a remake for DS, so it can be done justice. That is, if it the opportunity were to ever arise
