Topic: wiiware is in a slump

Seems like there hasn't been many good wiiware releases lately. Anyone else think the same? Seems like there used to be a lot of releases that I'd at least really consider getting but lately I haven't seen anything that appeals to me at all.

Is there anything good coming out to look forward to besides meat boy and bit.trip?

WiiWare is for chumps!

Real men, and ladies, and in-betweens, and neithers, we... actually I forgot where I was going with that... ^ _ ^;

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

It has its ups and downs...and to be quite honest, far more downs than ups.

Good: Sonic 4: Episode 1 (next week)
Bit.Trip Something or other (hopefully, I'm having my doubts, personally )
That's all I got.

That's it for me actually...
Well that and Super Meat Boy, which won't be out for awhile.

Retro City Ramage looks awesome

I think WiiWare has been in pretty much the same state since the beginning. There are a nice number of quality releases now, but its taken a long while to get to that point. I find its better to not pay attention to WiiWare for like MONTHS and then when I finally check in again i'm usually pleasantly surprised by some quality games

I think the big problem is that developers announce games way too early. When there is something that I actually wanted, it wouldn't release for at least half a year. If developers announced their games about 2 months before release, people would be more surprised.

Is there a release date for retro city rampage? Its gonna be expensive but looks to be worth it. Sonic should be good too but not sure if that's worth the $15.

I like wiiware and think there are some great games for it at a good price it just seems lately there has been a lot of crap or kiddie stuff released without the really cool innovative releases to balance it out. Hopefully there will be more coming out soon.

Also, there are still a fair amount of good wiiware games I still have to download.

It's because developers would rather put out stuff on PSN/ Xbox Live, where the money is at for digital downloads.

The Wii has the highest install base, but the lowest online engagement - so, while Wii retail continues to plug along, digital downloads are in a similar state to the PSP in retail.

Kinda hard to get excited for PC ports, some of which are already free.

Those are all coming soon, so for all you know each and every one of them could be crap (I highly doubt it, but still). Lately games that HAVE been released have been either average or terrible, though.

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.

Hate to be a buzzkill but WiiWare has been in a slump since the service started.

As Mickeymac said, a couple of them are already out on PC so they've already been confirmed as good games.

I dunno. Looking at the Coming Soon-list I find quite a lot of games I'm interested in :

Aya and the Cubes of Light
BIT.TRIP FATE
Bomberman Blast: Battlefest
Bonk: Brink of Extinction
Eternity's Child
FAST - Racing League
Fluidity
Horizon Riders
La Mulana
Last Flight
Machinarium
MotoHeroz
NightSky
Retro City Rampage
Rush Rush Rally Racing
Ongaku
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1
Thruspace: High Velocity 3D Puzzle
TNT Racers

And that's just the ones I know about and notice from a quick look. There's also a big bunch with little info yet which might turn out great. But I can agree releases lately have been a bit slow...

I hope we'll see the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon WiiWare trilogy at some point. That's been out in Japan for over a year, and it's not like it wouldn't sell elsewhere, as the consistent sales of Ranch and Rumble prove.

Umm, what else is a port besides La Mulana (which has been heavily updated) and Machinarium?

Check out my classy comics.

Similar to what they did with Cave Story for DSi.

Super Meatboy and Super Motherload. Nuito Love 2 is another one not mentioned.

Oh well, no point listening to me in this case, since the truth is I just hate indie games unless its freeware or a retail release.
