Topic: Wii Sports + Wii Sports Resort disc problem

Ok, so there is a Wii Sports + Wii Sports Resort disc, and Wii Sports Resort works completely fine. However, if I click on Wii Sports, the screen fades to black, as if it were normally loading, but after a few seconds it goes to the startup warning and from there just goes to the Wii menu. So I don’t know what is going on. Any help would be appreciated.

try this first...

turn on Wii,
put in a game that does work, start playing the game (just get past the start menu)
tap the home button then close the software
eject the game (do NOT turn off system)
put in the Wii Sport game you are having the issue with
........
see if that works, if not, eject game then try this.....

*go to main menu
*hold the reset (not power) for several seconds until it resets,
*while on the warning screen, hold the power button (on the console) for several seconds until it's off
*unplug the system from wall (or the plug from the console) wait over 6 minutes,
*do not plug back in yet, but hold power button for 10 seconds
*plug system in, turn on
*go to main menu, insert game disk

if that doesn't work, it just may be time to send it to the big "Mushroom Kingdom in the Sky"

I'll see if i can remember a (NON factory) system software reset
(a factory reset usually fixes most every problem ever....HOWEVER, it will also erase everything you have downloaded and saved on the system, as if that's bad enough, since Nintendo stopped supporting channels and other things for the Wii in January, if you have channels like Netflix or virtual console games or other downloaded games and ware, you'd be screwed and unable to get them back, so let's avoid the Factory Reset for now)

@jhewitt3476 That’s the only game that I have for the Wii. Plus, Wii Sports used to work fine. Also, it’s 2 games on 1 disc.

well, if those are the only games you have, try the second thing i mentioned

So I just bought a used Wii over the weekend and all the games work except for Wii Sports Resort, where I get this issue described above. I have did the turn it off and unplug it thing and I even formatted the memory. Ive tried cleaning the disk too. Nothing works. Any ideas? Is it possible there is something wrong with the disk? Anything is helpful! Thank you!

@Nemodius Would a factory reset keep the same ID key for download games so that you would be able to play them if you use an SD card to back them before the reset and then restore them afterwards?

Everytime I start up Wii sports resort it works just fine but when I get past the warning screen and press A, it sends me back to the loading screen. Someone please help
