Some of these I've played in the past on my family's Wii, others I've heard that they're good:
Wii Sports Resort
Wii Fit Plus
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Mario Kart Wii
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
Kirby's Return to Dreamland
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Xenoblade Chronicles
I probably missed a bunch, though 🤣
Formerly ShieldHero
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Pokémon Violet
2: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
3: Animal Crossing New Horizons
4: Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
5: The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
RPGs: Xenoblade, Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Rune Factory, a couple of mystery dungeon games. arguably Super Paper Mario (its a very unique RPG that's a platformer too)
Action: Muramasa, Madworld, Force Unleashed, No More Heroes 1 and 2, Deadly Creatures, a bunch more depending on what your definition of action game is
Also there's obviously Mario, Zelda etc, big Nintendo franchises are often a safe bet
I'll throw in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn to the list of great RPGs on the Wii. It tends to go for insane prices these days though, so don't expect to pick up a cheap copy.
Then there's Okami, for more of an action adventure, with a unique art style that has aged very gracefully. There are HD ports of it for more recent systems, but I think the motion controls work nicely on the Wii.
To me the most "Wii" type experience you can get from a game has to be Boom Blox and its sequel Boom Blox Bash Party. At first glance you wouldn't think much of it but once it "clicks" it gets very addicting to go for those high scores. It's even more chaotic when playing couch multiplayer. It's a great party game but also a great kick back game. Check them out.
This fire is burning and it's out of control. It's not a problem you can stop it's Rock and Roll!!!
Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are fantastic, and they're two of my favorite games on the Wii. They recently came out for the Switch, but I'd say you can't go wrong with whatever system you get them for. I highly recommend them.
Kirby's Epic Yarn is another great game that I highly recommend to anyone. It's really cute and cozy, and it even has couch co-op. Honestly, I wouldn't mind having a Switch version of the game, as well.
And while we're on the subject of action-focused games, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor is a really good rail shooter. If you enjoy games like Star Fox, it's worth picking up for sure.
"Give yourself the gift of being joyfully you."
Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World
AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
There are some fairly unique experiences on Wii and also some games that just generally never appeared after the Wii. Obviously stuff like Zack and Wiki immediately comes to mind but I would say that even stuff like World of Goo and the Bit Trip series is kinda best on Wii
But yeah, most of the big Nintendo releases you can't really go too wrong. Although personally I would go for the HD (or even 4K now) versions of the big Mario/Zelda games if possible. Or equivalent sequels where they exist. The only real exception would be Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort because Switch Sports doesn't really come that close. Especially compared to the variety of games in Resort

Wii versions exclusive english dub is miles more enjoyable rather than the automatic disconnect i felt by from the PS1 & Reverie's original Japanese muffled jiberish.
Xenoblade Chronicles (my fave game ever) for your RPG fix.

Super Smash Bros Brawl
