Looks like that little progress was made on arcade games coming out on Virtual Consoles outside of Japan as North America & the PAL region got 12 arcade games each over the past year with a 13th on the way for North America within a matter of weeks or sooner as Zaxxon is expected to come out there soon. The PAL region has yet to acquire the arcade football game Tecmo Bowl, probably because they are more into the Europearn Football or Soccer as you might say. So will we see an improvement on retro arcade games coming to the Virtual Console soon? Let's hope so. SEGA could consider releasing more notable games like Super Hang-On & Out Run from the 1980s.
I think one problem the VCA has is that many of the good arcade games are released in their ported console form: Final Fight, Street Fighter, etc. It would be nice if they decided to release the arcade versions of Contra and TMNT. X-Men would be welcomed as well.
Namco really needs to step in this year for Pac-Man's 30th Anniversary!
Agreed. I do recall seeing something last year about them planning something special; at the very least I hope we'll see a comprehensive compilation of Pac-Man arcade games including Pac-Man Plus, if not popular hacks like the Popeye one which I remember seeing in the arcade or superspeed Ms. Pac-Man, which I also remember playing.
Obviously if they appear on the Virtual Console in Japan I'll be buying them as they're released!
I'll give it a D- and only because they released Shinobi. Very dissappointed so far
Where are the Namco games and what about Technos? And since the Wii is a Nintendo console it might make sense for them to release one of their own arcade games.
Wasted potential and I think eventually Microsoft's game room will step all over the Virtual Console arcade
The Virtual Console Arcade has really be underultilized for what it can really do. There are hundreads of possible games that can be released on the Virtual Console, yet we've barely seen a very small fraction in a year.
I honestly can't understand what Namco are doing. They're up to what, 50+ games on the Japanese service, but apart from the 3 launch games, we've not seen any of them elsewhere. Really bizarre.
I'd give it a C because I'm very happy with Shinobi and Golden Axe.
So ends a saga older than time itself. The World's oldest and fiercest army has been led to victory, and a lost generation is delivered from its fear of extinction. As the sun sets over the field of conflict the dinosaurs disperse, hoping never to set foot in this place a...
Tell me about it! So many of them I'm dying to get. It's ridiculous how this goes unsupported in NA to the degree it has. Especially when there's SO much potential still available...
