Topic: Super Street Fighter 4 - reckon there's a chance?

I'm getting really excited about Super Street Fighter 4 - the addition of Cody and Guy, car smashing bonus stages etc - everything I thought was missing from the first version lol.

Anyway I was so gutted when Street Fighter 4 didn't make it to the Wii. I've had the privilidge of playing it on a friend's 360 but I'd love to own it myself. The Wii could easily handle the game - and it wouldn't even need to be a cut down version. I'm hoping Tats(whatever) vs Capcom sells tons to show Capcom Wii owners would smash a car with their bare hands for this game.

Or shall I just give up and buy a 360 for one title?

I'd go for the 360 version. Even if there is a Wii version, the online is going to suffer. Fighting games are by far the most finicky when it comes to lag, which the Wii online is prone too.

I don't think the Wii is incapable of running the game without a serious visual downgrade. I don't see Capcom putting forth the time money and effort to remake the game with worse visuals for Wii when they already have a Wii-exclusive fighter coming out soon. The visuals pretty much make SF4 anyway, so it'd be a shame to downgrade it to Wii, as much I'd like to see it on Wii, myself.

Other than the visuals and the new characters (none of which look that great), SF4 felt basically like SF2 to me, just with super moves added on and a different balance. It was great in my three or four matches at the arcade, but nothing revolutionary by any means. I'd be happy enough to get Super Street Fighter 2. SSF4 looks cool, though. I'm glad to see Guy return. He was my favorite in Alpha (only played the original though). Juri looks quite fun, too. If it came out on Wii, I'd throw a party, but I don't expect it to happen by a long shot (not that stranger things haven't happened).

If you're that big a fan, I'd get a PS3 for it so you don't have to pay to play online. PS3's online play works just fine. You'd then have access to King of Fighters and BlazBlue, too, to give yourself some variety of fighters instead of just having one game on the system. SSFIITHDR is really good, too, though it might be pointless to have if you're getting SSF4.

Well, if you're going to point that out I will say that the Xbox 360 does have other fighters as well, including both the 3D and 2D variety.

None of those are PS3 exclusives. I only point out the PS3 because it has free online, and if SSF4 is really his sole reason for wanting another console, might as well go with the one that will cost you the least in the long run, assuming he wants to play online.

As far as exclusive fighters, neither console offers much that I know of (though if you know of any good ones only on 360, I'd love to know), just a handful of old games emulated, nothing that ought to affect such a decision. XBLA has Mark of the Wolves, and PSN has Street Fighter Alpha 1 & 2. Both have a King of Fighters, though I forget which year each has.

I remember being so excited for this game when it was first announced for the 360, PS3, and yes, even the Wii!!! But I checked GameTrailers one day and it only said PS3 and 360...Wii version must've been scrapped...making this the worst thing the worst thing Cappy's ever done for me...I hope the newer one get's a chance...

XBLA has a lot of classic fighting games but buying a system for one game isn't worth it. the wii has the capcom VS. game coming up and the VC has lots of variety.

@Adam
You know, I don't know if there are any real exclusives. I'm not the hugest follower of the genre, but I can't think of any.

I will say this, though: the PS3 dpad is better for fighters, especially 2D ones. Although no matter which system you have getting a joystick is the way to go.

I don't recall it ever being announced for Wii, Cheezy. Sure that wasn't just a dream?

Also, yes, the PS3's D-pad is the best. Unfortunately, arcade joysticks are too dang expensive for me and I don't like playing with the thumb sticks for fighters at all. It may be harder to do moves that use rolls, but fortunately my two most played fighters, SFA and SSFIITHDR have more simplified moves, at least for the characters I use (Guy and Zangief, respectively).

I doubt I'd ever play it online - not a fan of online gaming, especially with a fighting game. To me, they're always the games where your opponent needs to be in the same room as you - playing it with your mates and having a laugh about it is what made Street Fighter great.

I'd rather go for the 360 over the PS3. I would only get it for that one game since I use my PC for the "high end" gaming and I only allow one console under my TV (which is the Wii). So basically the core 360 model that I can just store away and take out when I fancy a bash on Street Fighter.

I'm still going to hold out for a Wii version though. Nintendo helped make Street Fighter what it is so it's a total crime not to release Street Fighter 4 on the Wii. It can technically be produced on the console almost perfectly - remember each stage, although detailed, is just one stage loaded at a time. It's so easy to cut corners when there is limited camera movement and would provide much more texture space than, say, a Resident Evil 4 style game.

No chance its coming to Wii, sorry!

If you use your PC for high-end gaming, why don't you just get Super Street Fighter 4 for PC?

I didn't like Street Fighter 4.

If you're looking for fighting games, don't forget that the Wii can play SSB Melee & Brawl (Nintendo exclusives), the best version (because of Link) of Soul Calibur 2, TMNT Smash-Up (Wii exclusive), Naruto Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 (Wii exclusive), the best version (due to the excellent motion controls) of DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, and Overturn (WiiWare exclusive). I just wish the Wii had gotten Soul Calibur 4.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.

Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

If you play games on PC, why not get it for PC instead of wasting so much money on a new console you will only take out on occasion for a single game?

Also, about Nintendo "making Street Fighter" what it is... the arcade did that, not Nintendo. And Street Fighter has not been on a Nintendo home console since Street Fighter II (and it's multiple expanded versions) with one exception, a late port of Street Fighter Alpha 2 for SNES that I hear is pretty bad. So if it's a shame, it's been a shame for a long time, and Capcom clearly doesn't care, unfortunately.

There's always a chance for SFIV (or hopefully SSFIV) to make it to Wii, but it's just not likely at this point. Maybe Tatsunoko vs CAPCOM could increase the chances of bringing S/SF4 to Wii if it does good ... or it could just make TvC end up on PS3 and XBox360 as well. Personally, I'm hoping for both. I have the game for PS3 but i think it's important for Nintendo fans to play as Chun-Li and Ryu again aside from Virtual Consols releases. Last time I saw those two on a Nintendo console was Capcom vs SNK 2 EO ... also Athena's first appearance on a Nintendo console since her self-titled game on the NES (which is based on the arcade game) but that's beside the point.

I'm sure. I remember seeing the first trailer and it exclaimed all of the consoles it was announced for, one of which being the Wii...

Athena also appeared on the old Game Boy King of Fighters games.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
