Topic: Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz, the little gem I missed out on

Well, I hate to say it but I can't believe I missed out on this little Gem. Now I'm almost halfway through the game on World 4, but so far I'm really diggin it. I for one think the motion controls are more fun than using the analog stick from the previous 2 Monkey Ball titles on the Gamecube. But it can be alittle more difficult at times, especially trying to balance on thin platforms. But it is accurate and more fun nonetheless. And it's great, because 'you' youself are balancing the board with the Wii Remote instead of a boring clunky analog stick.

But ya, what's the deal with the End game Credits that are shown after every time you beat a World? It' pretty stupid, pointless and ridiculous if you ask me. And also I'm trying to go back to certain levels that I've beaten previously to try and get all of the banana's but the game won't let me...Well, it gave me 'one' more chance to do so after I exited the game but that's it
Anyways, this is a nice change after being so addicted to the rad-tastic Mega Man 10 I seriously wish I only played through it on Normal difficulty with both Mega Man and Proto Man because now my first experience with the game is kind of clouded. yargh!

Anyways, any Banana Blitz lovers in here?

Once you go through them once you can skip them, also, removing the jump feature was so stupid in the sequel.

You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

I never tried the Wii version; but I love Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2. Might have to pick up a cheap second-hand copy sometime.

Banana Blitz is a good game, the game I got along with my Nintendo Wii on the WIi's launch day. I liked the 1-player story, it was difficult though, got really stuck on one level and never finished it. I loved the jump feature and the bosses were great. The downside is that about half of the party games are completely broken, the controls don't work well, but just the single party game game Monkey Wars makes up for it all, it's like an almost full FPS game but with a Super Monkey Ball twist. Plus there's a few other fun Party games in SMB: BB

Honestly this is the worst wii game I own, loved 1 & 2 on GC not just for the main game, but the excelent mini games too, to me Blitz was a huge let down, mediocore main game mode plus awful botched mini games sums up Blitz for me.

I absolutely adored Banana Blitz! ...But I've yet to beat it...I'm about halfway through the 10th world, and I'm pretty darn sure the level I'm stuck on is impossible...

I'm working on a game that's coming out soon!

I'm gonna start trying out World 4 now...I wove this game
I cant exactly remember too much of my Monkey Ball 2 experience on the Cube though. I remember getting bored of it half way through. But this new Wii Control Scheme makes the experience much more fun, the music seems more moody and upbeat and I cant see myself stopping hehe...

I'm now half way through World 8 and this game is a total blast and flat out addicting ;p
I can't believe I snaged myself a brand new copy for $13 Anyways, World 10 eh? I found World 7(Valcanic Pools) to be the hardest so far and the most frusturating. Thank god I'm persistint. And trying to collect every banana in each stage goes right out the window as soon as you're half way through the game and you realise how next to impossible is to do.lol

I love every Super Monkey Ball game there is except for Adventure. That one was terrible. I read a hilarious review on it too.

Exactly. It's the only Monkey Ball game I've ever sold without completing it. I HATED IT!

In all honesty the series has gone down the toilet since the GC days. The mini-games are downright embarassing. Even Monkey Target and Monkey Race suck golden eggs on the new ones.

lol...Hey, for $13 and the awesome Wii Controls and overall fun experience, it tis' a gem in my eyes
Why are so many people saying it pales in comparison to SMB2? After experiencing the Wii Controls I can't go back to the old configuration. But I'm guessing the level design was smarter and more challenging and intricate in SMB2 AND there were more levels. But I just can't remember as I got bored during the 4th world in SMB2. As for the SMB Banana Blitz's Mini games, I've only played around 6 or 7. Sling shot was great and intuitive, Monkey Target and Asteroids(whatever it was called) was good as well...But 'Fishing' and 'Whack a Mole' felt broken and just terrible. My Fishing net wouldn't even show up on the screen half of the time! I had to move closer to the TV for it to show up

Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz IS a gem. Its got great wii motion controls and great level design on the whole. Some of the mini games just don't work, but who cares? Its a shame step and roll didn't reach these heights. I got it about two years ago for around £10 on e-bay and have loved it to smitherines.

I want to see Super Monkey Ball 2 WiiMotionPlus next please!

So what's the deal With SMB Step and Roll? Everybody is saying the Balance Board controls are either mediocre or terrible. On Paper it sounds like a great idea but it didn't turn out so well I guess. BUT, it still has Wii Remote Motion Controls, but how are the levels themselves compared to Banana Blitz? Are they dubbed down because of the Balance Board?

Well the balance board play is ok for say the first two, three or three and a half world then the b.board difficulty curve is vertical!

Motion controls in step and roll are just as good as in banana blitz, but there is no jump function in step and roll (as there isn't in the traditional super monkey ball GC games). There is also no boss battles (again like the GC classics).

The level design is inferior in step and roll. The game doesn't test your skill in completing the level, but moreso how fast you can complete it.

Also, in step and roll you can't play the individual level in each world even if you complete that level. You have to complete the entire world otherwise you go all the way back to the first level of that world. That's not the case in banana blitz.

The mini games just about all work in step and roll whereas as quite a few didn't work in banana blitz quite frankly. However, the mini games, bar about 6 or 7, are quite bland... that's even in multi-player I found. There are 21 mini games which are also compatibel with the b.board. The thing is wii sports resort, mario and sonic and even a lot of wii fit plus has raised the bar in mini/midi game collections considerably. The latter two even have very decent balance board play.

The balance board levels merely have the obstacles removed. Really, there should've been entirely different levels for the balance board and the wiimote.

A merger of banana blitz and step and roll with different levels for balance board mb play would've been close to a 9/10. As it it step and roll just about scrapes a 7/10....but only just as the fun factor is still decentish and is SLIGHTLY greater than the frustration factor.

ALSO, I used to love Super Monkey Ball 2 with the analogue stick but would hate to go back to playing a new MB game that way now motion controls are here. I'd like to see a NPC Super Monkey Ball WiiMotionPlus (it's need wiimotionplus for many of the levels u see!)

Outrunner

I like it. Some of the boss battles are a bit hard though. Especially the octopus.

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matt. 1:21.

Donatello

Well, I finally finished the 8th World...And damn was that final Boss a big pain in the ass
Anyways, to my suprise the 9th World wasn't unlocked...Instead you have to beat each World without using a Continue. When I found out I was totaly erked. World 6, 7 and 8 were tough as nails alone, I dont think I could even manage beating those worlds without losing tons of lives resulting in a continue. So I guess World 9 and 10 are a no go for me, which is very disspointing because I realllly wanted to try them out.

Right now I'm just playing through all of the mini games, I've probably played around 25 or so and I'm very dissapointed in most of them. Most of the Mini games are terrible, some of them are even broken...There are a few decent gems in the bunch but overall they're a dissapointment so far. But I already knew that beforehand based on alot of Reviews.

Overall so far this game is definitly an 8/10.
Nintendo Life's 4/10 Score is ridiculous
