Any chance of Super Mario Galaxy 2 being available as Nintendo Selects in the US? It looks like Super Mario Galaxy 2 Nintendo Selects is available in the UK, but not the US.
I haven't played it yet, will it be coming to Nintendo Selects? Should I wait?
The Nintendo Selects lineup is dead in North America. We only saw two rounds of rereleases in 2011 (And two New Play Control releases finally made it out in 2012 carrying the branding). The program was gone almost as soon as it appeared and there are no signs of a revival happening after all of these years.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 did however see its MSRP drop to $29.99 a year or more ago, but wasn't reprinted at the same time unlike NSMBWii which saw its white case variant appear simultaneously with its price drop. Few still had new stock at the time and fewer still have new stock of it today. The price of a sealed copy is only going to be going up and you're already probably going to have to pay more than MSRP today for it.
Such a peculiar move on Nintendo of America's part. They've supplied new Wii hardware all this time including a budget priced revision, but haven't supplied a corresponding line of budget priced reprintings of popular out of print classics to complement it.
It just goes with NoA's General mishandling of the Wii brand post 2010. They straight up stopped bringing games here. While there were other factors, a lot of the reason the Wii died was NoA.
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
I'm still annoyed that they couldn't even be bothered to bring over Fatal Frame 2 and Chibi Robo, two games that wouldn't of even needed a translation.
