Yes very much. Except you're on foot. I recently got the game for christmas and I'm loving it. Just finished my first playthrough and it was really intense. The boss battles are frantic and really fun. I bought the first one on VC and since then I knew I had to have the sequel. If you are a fan of shooters it's a must have.

man its pretty challenging at later levels i'll tell ya, i got bit angry losing multiple times and started breathing foul languages till i stop losing that is

now that i think about it starfox is about the only big nintendo franchise not to get a game yet this gen. maybe this year... what else have they got left?

Yeah I'd say Star Fox is a fair comparison, though I'd say it's more like Panzer Dragoon than anything because of its post apocalyptic bio-weapon setting. If you like either of those, though, you should like this - main difference is you have much better control of your character and target.

It's a into the screen shooter but your player and target are controlled independently plus with the sword reflect attact it's a far harder/more complex game. This is expected with a Treasure game as they cater for a smaller hardcore audience.
Just persevere with it and you will get alot better and then you will enjoy the game more as it is very very good.

Panzer Dragoon is awesome, I remember my friend and I beat it at the local Blockbuster as they had the full game running on Saturn, and they weren't particularly busy that day so we stayed there and beat the game (with a little bit of help from cheat codes of course).

@vonseux well we did play all the levels, just made sure we had some extra help on the way.

Well, they had Star Fox Command, but it wasn't a rail shooter.
