Really? If that's the case I may check it out. The only other Mega Drive game I've felt was superior to the arcade was Chelnov (only in Japan presently) which is so much better graphically whilst retaining gameplay and music cannot be believed.

Shadow Dancer has a more futurisitic look than the original Shinobi. The graphics, music, gameplay are really great. One of my favorite stages is the Statue of Liberty level too. I enjoy the bonus levels where you must slash ninjas while falling from a building.
I have to disagree with you on that one. They're different games, and both great fun, but the arcade version tops it for me. It may be more nostalgic (since I played the C64 and Amiga conversions first), but I got my hopes up it's be the arcade so this is a little disappointing for me.
Shadow Dancer is great, close to the arcade Shinobi in style and I like the Dog, decent graphics too, but.... it will be a bad 50Hz version I assume. No point for me as I can play in in 60Hz on my actual Megadrive and it has a level select. They seem to have totally forgotten to release Indiana Jones on the SNES as well.
Shadow Dancer for the MegaDrive is my second favorite Shinobi game, after Super Shinobi II/Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master. I can never seem to beat the fourth stage in SD.
