Does justin.tv or any other sites that stream tv work?
Justin.tv does not work. Instead of getting an error saying you need to update your Flash Player, you just get an empty box where the video is supposed to be.
This is unfair, I do not want a NES virtual console game!!! I want my points back!!!

I've must agree, giving a credit to those who bought the Internet Channel for the sole application toward the break-even purchase of an NES title is not an elegant solution to correct their disparity with those who downloaded the Internet Channel for free.
They probably want to keep as many of those points "in house," and not lose the already recognized revenue by issuing a restrictionless credit and having many of the refunded points then applied to third party title purchases, where there may be more royalites to pay.
PS: I just downloaded the update and percieve a slight speed increase, but otherwise no glaring visual difference. I don't use it that much. Lower block requirement, as noted.
It'll be interesting to see if someone files a class-action lawsuit on behalf of those that purchased the Internet Channel, only to have their points in a sense retained when other consumers receive the same product for free.
Five bucks x (# of paid Internet Channel downloads) probably = a lot of bucks.
I don't get the hate over having to choose a NES game.
Whats wrong with the NES? Sure crediting your shop account 500 points to use as you see fit would be nice but if this is the way they're going to do it then so be it.
They probably just don't want the trouble of deducting points from their own account and transferring it to individual users accounts. Complaining won't do a thing and not getting a NES game is just doing yourself no favors. There's a good enough range to choose from.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
It's not what's wrong with NES games, it's more of a matter of why not let us choose what we want? What if we want a WiiWare game, or a SMS game, for example?
That doesn't make it right, Bass X0. They're treating two discrete catagories of consumers unequally. What if someone purchased the Internet Channel with a credit card? Or a points card only to use for the Internet Channel? Now they can't have their points back to do with them as they see fit.
The more I think about it, the more glaringly offensive it becocmes.

They paid for the Internet Channel with the understanding at the time that they would not get their points back at a later date.
Why should it matter whether they paid by credit card or by Wii Points card? They still paid for a service which they recieved.

I for one am grateful that Nintendo will be reimbursing me for my purchase of the Nintendo Channel. I was not able to download it while it was free because I barely got internet access so unfortunately I had to pay for it. Yes, it would have been nice to be able to use that 500 points on whatever I want but I'm just glad that I will be getting something back instead of nothing at all.
@All people who complain.-You guys are considering lawsuits for over 500 points? Good grief! We are getting a FREE game, and this is great news. But, people still find the need to get upset. I'm grateful, what do you guys want from Nintendo? I sense this topic is going to turn into another flame wars.

BassXO is exactly right. Wanting to sue Nintendo for return of 500 points paid for a product that was not free at the time would be like wanting to sue Sony for a refund of the difference between the cost of a PS3 and PS3 Slim.
No, RocketBird. That's not accurate. The Internet Channel was a free download to early adopters, who tacitly assited Nintendo with product and service development. The Channel was then migrated to a purchase-only product. Presumably, many people purchased. Now it's free. This is not a price drop, it's a price elimination. With no material difference in the product.
