Just wondering if anyone else would download this if it came to the VC? It is a simple game, but I think it is fun for short bursts.

I have no clue why this game hasn't been available yet, but it might have some issues preventing it's release. I'm not sure if we'll ever see it, as it's an relatively forgettable game that doesn't seem to last long.

I'll let other people decide.

I had it as a child it was relatively fun, but probably too light on content for me to plop $5 on.

I have the NES cartridge. Quite challenging, and I love a good challenge.

One of the first NES titles published by Nintendo and made by Irem. I like it and I think its better than Vigilante

Reopen the Wii Shop Channel

Vigilante, iirc from playing it on MAME32, had similar gameplay to it.

Wasn't this game based on a Jackie Chan movie? If so, that may explain why it's not available.

I liked this game and would download it when/if it comes to VC.

@RowdyRodimus Yes it was based on Wheels on Meals, starring Jackie Chan, and a little from Bruce Lee's Game of Death.

Kung Fu is a great game! I remember back in the 80s how kids would play that game constantly at Kmart.

EXPERIENCE MORE.... Arcade-quality graphics, awesome sound, "turbo-charged" game play, exciting TurboChip games... It's the incredible Turbo Genesis 64 Entertainment SuperSystem Experience. There's more fun, more challenge, and more excitment ready for you today!

Yes, but Kung Fu is a much better game. I bought Vigilante due to it being described as "like Kung Fu", and was massively disappointed.

I read this topic just before I went to work today, and as a result I've been humming the Kung-Fu song all day at work

Some friends of mine play in a Nintendo Tribute band and does an awsome Ice Climber/Kung-Fu medly.

There's a better version on thier CD

Kung Fu was based on a movie? I never knew that.

The one in pink is kind of scary

Last night I looked up at the stars and thought "Where the hell is my roof gone!?!"

The one in pink looks like Starman from Pro Wrestling.

I loved this game as a kid, and I still do. i wouldn't download it, as I have the original, but now that I think about it, it is strange that it's not already on VC.

There really is no good reason this game isn't available on the VC yet, as both Nintendo and Irem both support the VC, and there are no licensing issues whatsoever. Only thing I can think of is maybe Irem's other VC games haven't sold well and they lost interest in supporting the VC. They haven't released a game since Super R Type, and off the top of my head I think that was early 2008.

It does have an interesting history. The Japanese version of the arcade game was based on a Jackie Chan movie. The home ports of the game were just simply called Kung Fu and were stripped down obviously in terms of graphics and such.
Eventually there was a NES game called "Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu" released in 1990 but was nothing like like the original Kung Fu game.

Shouldn't be that hard to just use the English version (and change the names if they're overly concerned).
(the Japanese version of Blazing Lazers for TG16 was a licensed game, so they just released the US version there instead)
(and if we want to talk about Jackie Chan cameos, Hudson put in the FC RPG Momotarou Densetsu and made him blue and naked.
I was later informed it was part of a Japanese pun, jaki.)

Change what names? I'm pretty sure the English version didn't have any licensed names.
