bet the beatles themselves played the damn thing and said "hey our songs in here... alright!" the beatles are chill, they wont give a crap, its the people who have the musical rights who will be going bonkers over a game made 15 years ago! stupid music rights!

SSBF, the only thing it will do will make a bunch of gamers who haven't played it realize it's no where even close to the hype it gets. The conventions it so-called began were used LONG before Earthbound was released but the Earthbound fans refuse to admit it and hold onto it because it's wacky and you love the impression that you're the only ones who 'get it' when in reality we all get it...it's just not that great hence the reason NO ONE BOUGHT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

To go along with your awesome smash bros. argument....Pit is in Super Smash Bros and we're not getting another Kid Icarus that we know of either. It's time you see the forest through the trees. As much as I love Parasite Eve, and I see a large Parasite Eve fanbase, I don't dilute myself to the fact that it didn't sell and I'm probably not going to get a Parasite Eve 3 in the US on a proper console...what do I mean by this? Parasite Eve is a BETTER selling franchise than Earthbound, it saw a US released sequel, and that community can't get a proper 3 in the US...Earthbound stinks and Nintendo realizes it can't make any money what so every on it...maybe can break even, but that is no reason to release a game that is potentially hampered by an obscene amount of LICENSING issues...get a hold of yourself.

If it was SO great then the sequels would have been released in the US because it had no licensing issues, BTW, sometimes, and just personally, you need to stop while you're ahead. Licensed music is called licensed music because it is LICENSED. This isn't tough, and I hope you follow me because it's not that rough.

guys, guys, guys.... let us just chill, por favor. i've never played earthbound, but love Nintendo, love rpgs, love weird things, and have loved Ness' character since the first smash bros., so i would love to see it come to vc, and would jump on that immediately. but as of now, we have no reason to believe it will ever come to vc, nor do we have any reason to believe it won't. we aren't nintendo, nor are any of us well versed in the particulars of the situation well enough to comment on the game's likelihood of re-release with any real substantial evidence. so let's be civil, please. the friendliness of the community is the glory of this site... and you two are starting to look like Gamespot users. cut it out, please.

Yeah, bro is right, guys. We should relax, breathe deeply, and count to ten.
Sure, I would love to be able to play EB someday on the VC, but I can wait for now.
I'm that patient!

All right, I admit I probably sounded more upset in my last post than I really am. This whole situation is damn frustrating, though, and I have low tolerance for bad logic. I maintain that there are TONS of people just like bro2dragons who would download the game if it was released but aren't making a big stink about it meanwhile. The Mother 3 fan translation broke a million downloads MONTHS ago, and even though you obviously can't expect EVERY download to equal a sale if the game was actually released, it should be clear that Nintendo could've made money releasing it.

You who trash talk our fandom are every bit as annoying to us as we "vocal minority" are to you. Both sides insist that the other is ignoring the facts, and it's just plain absurd. I don't claim to know everything, of course...but what I DO know, I say. I speak here not out of ignorance but from a wealth of knowledge that came with no small amount of research. That's what Earthbound will do to someone who does appreciate it.

I'll just leave this arguement to Stuffgamer1 and J Bitties.

Not that he bothered to reply...which may be just as well. Shrug.

As if there's anything you said to respond to. You're just gonna keep throwing out your hopes and dreams and chant 'defy! defy! defy!" in the face of reason and facts.

Anyways, much to your pleasure, this is my last post on Nintendo Life. Just don't take this as serious as most do. In fact, it's gotten to the point that I don't even believe half the things I say, but I do it to just to mess with those that take this way too serious. Usually, it's because I'm bored that I begin to post like this. So, I'm bored, I can't access the site during the day anymore, and with a trip to Vegas, buying a house etc. coming up, I don't have the time to...well, for lack of better words, drop knowledge on all of you day in and day out so, good bye and some, I'm sure, will say, "J Bitties? Good Riddance!"

Just to expand real quick, I love games, but I don't let them dictate my life, they're my hobby and J Bitties is just a nameless/faceless screen name. When it appeared that I was WAY too serious in my own right, I wasn't. Most of the times it was just an end to a means to get to others and...like this thread...it worked, but, remember, in the end this is just a hobby, not life and ask yourself, "why so serious?".

Dear G-d, I'm actually hoping this game doesn't come out - at this rate, people will get themselves so hyped up that, once it is released and the inevitable disappointment sets in, it will cause such a simultaneous surge of nerd rage that the entire world will explode!

Seriously, Earthbound was a good game, but not that good, and it certainly doesn't warrent all the conspiracy threads(and occasionally conspiracy "News" reports) that keep on popping up everywhere. Really, as others have said, just be patient - it'll be released in due time, and whining about it isn't gonna get them released any faster.

Me, when I played the game (albeit not as legally as I wanted), the game, while not awesome-awesome, is still worth a play. (Nevertheless, Mother 3 is my favourite game ever. I simply cannot beat a rhythm-based RPG battle system.)

Of course, I think the people involved in this thread should see this:

@J Bitties: If you've really been posting simple to piss people off, then yes, I'd rather you DID leave. This site is called Nintendo LIFE, so obviously some of the more serious Nintendo fans are going to be around here. There's no reason to come along griefing...just let us be! You're obviously the one without a leg to stand on anyway, since I gave you a logical reply and you continued to insist I was just denying everything you said.

@MarkyVigoroth: Some of us long-time fans don't take it quite as well as the second guy, but I'm certainly not as crazy at that first guy, either. And I agree that Mother 3 is better...but Earthbound is the only one we even MIGHT get a real release of at this point, so it's the one to be concerned about.

I maintain that Earthbound is the kind of game that will appeal to you only if you buy into its brand of quirky humor. For those of us who do, it really IS as good as the hype. Plus, as I've said, you have to play it the right way to fully enjoy it, meaning examining everything and talking to everybody (the kind of thing that's usually REALLY boring in most RPG's, so people try to avoid doing so any more than necessary).

Stuffgame1-san, I agrre with your reactions. I am rather disappointed at the lack of Mother 2 on Virtual Console, but not to the point of explosion, probably since I would rather stick to the sour end. (Yes; I am the same Mr. Nosy who commented in that link.)

Me, I always talk to everybody and examine frequently, so I guess I would enjoy such.

Now I want some (sea-salt?) ice cream.

Oddly enough, talking to all the towns folk is one of my favorite parts of any RPG - sometimes they're even more interesting than the actual characters! Plus, they usually tell you something important, so there's no reason not to do it.

@Mickeymac: I agree about if the game is going to be release. We will see it eventually, when is the question. I'm sure Nintendo of America should be trying something to fix the copyright issues it has. And if it doesn't come, the Virtual Console will be automatically a disappointment.

@Stuffgamer1: Mother is possible too, but unlikely. Earthbound is likely thought.

I listened to some of the music online. It's no direct songs...isn't it mostly sampling? Has no-one at NOA heard hip-hop? It didn't seem to rip off anything than most Hip-Hop does when they sample. It'd be a shame if they changed the music, because I liked the stuff I heard. However, I heard NOA had already came up with music changes and NCL in Japan nixed them. I'm not sure if it will ever come up again at another meeting, but in theory, all that would need to happen would be for them to work out their issues on that.

Lastly, I don't understand why they're worried if they didn't get sued when it was originally released. I can understand why lawyers would be paranoid though. We have too many of them in this country for our own good, so you can sue for any little thing. Even if the lawyer loses, they still make $$$, so why not drag the other guy to court on a obviously lost case?

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.
