Agree with Sean and I haven't even played it. I was excited since the fist screens of it but I don't have the dough to get it still. All I expect is beautiful artwork and some cool 2-D sword slashing. "Hype" is subjective; What do you mean by that; advertising? Of course there's lots of hype around it, it's a product and they'd like to get it sold. Did you expect it to give you a back rub too? Maybe they should have toned it down and said something like: "well there's this new game coming out with really great artwork and swordfighting, but actually it's not really THAT great so don't go out and buy it or anything, we're just saying it's pretty cool is all... just so you know."

No, I'd say most of the hype came from all the attention the News sites were giving it, including this site. Personally, I could never see how a game where it's only major selling points are its graphics and shallow gameplay is in anyways worthy of such attention, but I guess since there isn't much else on the Wii to focus on, they probably needed something.
@ Mickeymac. Point taken. I can see how that might be a letdown if you expected more. I'm a pretty big cheapskate, so I'd actually expect this game to be just pretty, but easy, and probably not actually purchase it, but more likely rent it and call it a great game. I don't actually buy many games, unless I know they're really, really long or made by Nintendo (thus have long term, universal appeal).
This might not live up to the "hype" but this game is the kind of games i play. So i will very much enjoy this. Unfortunately i haven't bought it yet, but it's on my To Buy List this holiday season. I'm going to skip out on modern warfare to get this gem. I don't need to play it to know I'll like it just because ,It's a platformer and it's action. That is the exact type of game i want to play

Does it have to be a classic for you to enjoy? Sure it seems to have been a tad overrated but its still pretty decently rated according to metacritic and reputeable reviewers. I will be maintaining it on my pre-order list.
"They say video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock n' roll."
this game is more underhyped with all the art being hand drawn and maybe people shouldn't play it on easy if they think ist to much button tapping try hard and then try the harder difficultly that is unlocked this is one of the best games out this year on any system
i agree with Sean on this, i bought Muramasa for some old school button mashing 2D arcade style play, and i wasn't disappointed at all love the arcade style games, which is why i have arcade games such as Street Fighter IV, Raiden IV, and Raiden Fighters Aces for my 360
