@ Sean Um... no. It is not a town sim or any kind of sim. If you completely ignore the humor and style going for it, it is at its heart a Dragon Quest (an old JRPG) clone, though it does have a number of innovations modern gamers are likely to overlook, such as the lack of random battles, the rolling HP meter, and the oblique perspective (not that that really affects much, but it was different at the time).
Earthbound will come to the Virtual Console, just be patience. And for the other people who said that it'll never come to the Virtual Console, it only has copyright issues, which it can get rid of easily, but no licensing issues, so it's likely. Beside, it still has an ESRB rating, and despite what they say, we'll likely see it by the end of this generation. If you beileve that Earthbound will still come to the Virtual Console, don't listen to other people with different opinion. The only thing that can make an release unlikely is the removal of the ESRB rating.
EDIT: I do not believe in unicorn and pigs won't fly when Earthbound is released. It's no miracle.
You see Dr. Wen in there? He's explaining to that family that something went wrong, and that patient died. He's gonna tell them what happened, he's gonna say he's sorry - and then he's going back to work. Do you think anybody else in that room's going back to work today? That is why we distance ourselves; that's why we make jokes. We don't do it because it's fun. We do it so we can get by. And... sometimes because it's fun. But mostly it's the getting by thing. In other words, no...
