Is Wii Music Plus a confirmed thing? Or is this just wishful thinking? (Maybe that's what the big Media Summit in San Fran will be about.... ) <!> That sound was the explosion of 2 million "hardcore" gamers.

There's a very interesting Iwata Asks about Wii Music where, among other things, they talk about their experience of playing it and people's opinions about it. (laughs)
You get a sense that they're going to do a better job of marketing it and showing people how much creative scope there is in the game when Wii Music Plus comes out, as they've recognised their shortcomings in that department first time around.
page 3 of that has some nice staff vids. I almost feel inspired again! My backlog is too massive and I'm getting two games to review so no time........
@insin: I greatly appreciate your thorough explanation of how Wii Music really works. I have always enjoyed creating music, so it sounds like I could spend hours on this game. It should be pretty cheap by now, so I'm definitely considering picking up a copy when my wallet recovers from December.
Wario, I sent you the videos I want youtubed. They won't all make it into the final cut, but I want to have options. A couple are actually yours--I forgot how many incredible videos you all have sent me. it took me a sold half hour to sift through all the good ones and narrow it down to just a few. I already have a few definite ones that I found on Youtube. Thanks in advance!

Good variety of videos there (it was 5, correct?). I just captured them all, and once I've gotten them all uploaded to YouTube, I'll post the links here. I believe I'll have that by tomorrow morning early.
Thanks man. Lots of distractions this weekend but hopefully I'll be able to submit Part 2 by saturday, which means it'll probably be up on the actual site sunday or monday

No problem with that; I only wish it had been completed before the article, so that it might be linked as an example of the Wii Music community on the web. But it's coming very soon now, so a mention is certainly fine with me.

Yeah, that would have been cool. But it still gets the point across that there is a Wii Music community and it's growing. And I just submitted it so it'll be up later this week
Next stop, part 3!

Nice work; I particularly like the way you broke it down into 3 categories. Those who don't know the game are clueless to the fact that you can create endless covers without exhausting the possibilities, or that you can take a song apart and create something new, and it certainly pays to emphasize how much restraint matters, as that makes this game so different from all the other music games on the market, for the others emphasize playing with ever increasing speed, but Wii Music shows how musicality is not so much about technical virtuosity as it is about discretion and creating a space for the instruments in relation to one another.
Good choice of videos as well. Even if you weren't the one writing the article, I'd want them to use your excellent pieces, as they really do show how polished and musically inventive a cover can be. I'm also just happy to have mine in the same category as Wassi, although my deconstructing skills are still nowhere near his abilities (although no one can catch up to that guy).
So what exactly will the topic be for part 3? I wish there was a comment mechanism on that site, by the way.

Yeah, the lack of a comment section is killing the site if you ask me. Although this site has only been around about a year. They've got some big changes planned for the future, apparently (but frustrating in the meantime, because it's hard to get feedback on my reviews and features and such). I've talked to the staff about it. Apparently it creates a "messy code" that their site can't really handle right now. Anyway, For Part 3 I'll be going through and "debunking myths" about the game. And when I say myths I say "ridiculous false things that critics and gamers have about the game". Things like "Wii Music is a shallow, glorified toy" and "The Use of MIDI sound and public domain songs exemplified Nintendo's laziness." Stuff like that. Then I'll have a nice big conclusion where I'll try to clean up my mistake (when I said Nintendo didn't say anything to combat the false statements about the game) and summarize everything. It's already mostly done, it won't take nearly as long as part 2 did. Part 2 involved tracking down great Wii Music vids (which is tricky, as you know) and figuring out how to format everything.

Hi everyone, I recently found out about this forum from WiiMusicBox's channel on YouTube. It's good to see someone's still playing this game and doing cool things with it. I've read the first two parts of Kid A's article and looking forward to part 3. I agree that it isn't easy finding good Wii Music videos on YouTube, but you picked some nice ones for the article. I've got a few links to good videos on my favorites on my YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/tirelat), but I'm sure there must be many more that I've missed.
Hey man, welcome to our little Wii Music group. I've actually watched many of your videos on YouTube before, and I see that you also have one of mine from my old account in your favorites. (I switched to WiiMusicBox more recently in order to prepare for the fan site I'm trying to put together now, which, incidentally, will be called WiiMusicBox. Also, my old account has some really bad videos from when I was just figuring out the game, so a clean break was nice ).
If you're into collaborations or anything of that sort, there are always people up for it here. We're also just weird enough to enjoy talking about the game at length. As for my always-promised website project: I hope that it comes together well, but as usual I don't get all that much time to put into it outside of work. However, I will be taking most of a week off in March, and I hope to finish everything up during that time, if all goes as planned. But even without any other sites, this thread is one of the best Wii Music groups on the web, I'd say.
It's been a crazy month, and will remain so for another week or more, but I will remember to add your sig and then start up a collaboration, which would be a lot of fun.
For anyone who doesn't follow AlastedWM on YouTube or who just hasn't seen this yet, he has an amazing new rendition of K. K. Blues up:

It's been a busy week for me as well. But I did manage to find the time for a new Wii Music video. I got the idea while playing through the Abbey Road album on The Beatles: Rock Band.
