Actually, I think people vastly over-estimate how close we may be to another Zelda title. If what I've heard is true, this game has been in development for quite some time, already. Since well before the Wii U was even out. Even barring this idea, we know it's been in development since at least the console's launch. It's supposed to be absolutely massive, and this might very well be the game where they finally challenge the series norms, too. We'll see it at E3, without a doubt, but do realize, we didn't see it last year because they didn't want it to compete for hype with ALBW (a poor decision, IMO), and because they didn't want it to hurt Hyrule Warriors (an even worse decision, IMO). This game could very well be here by this holiday season, though I wouldn't be surprised if they push it into 2015 to avoid conflicting with Smash 4 Wii U.
As for the game, I must admit, I'm hoping for a 3D Four Swords title, but I don't know how it would work. Maybe they're gonna do some silly multi-verse stuff and bring multiple Links from multiple previous games into one title. XD I honestly hope not, but if they do, I'm sure it's cause they knew how to make it work. So hype for E3, either way.
I like how some users are hoping to witness some kind of 'true power' of a plastic box full of computer chips like it will be a devine spectacle of the gods... Showeth thy $250 worth of true power my lord
A bit of an aside, but prompted by that image, but I would love for the next Zelda game to have you play as Zelda, rather than Link, with an emphasis on archery and magic, rather than swordfighting.
I have thought this before.
Would you do it switching between the two ?
Co-op could be tricky as split screen would be a bit poop & online would potentially mean playing bits with different people and not a full adventure together which could take away from the game a bit
The Graphics: I expect the game to look very good, just as Mario Kart 8 looks incredibly good for what it is, Zelda U will do the same. It will probably be a slightly different art style than the Zelda demo, but I imagine they'll still go for that OoT / Twilight Princess mostly realistic, slightly cartoony style. Personally, I loved the style in Skyward Sword, but that's doesn't seem to be unanimous.
The Controls: I expect the game to make full use of the gamepad. I'm not entirely sure what that means, but if I had to guess, I'd say it will make use of all of the buttons (including the clickable joysticks) so it will at least control like a classic 3D Zelda game. It will use the touch screen in inventive ways perhaps you have to draw a certain symbol to cast a certain spell or something. Basically it will be used for something other than just the inventory and map screens. And it will use the gyro sensors for aiming while in first person. Perhaps another item like the beetle where you move the gamepad around the control item while the tv still shows Link (which would be useful for making sure Link isn't about to get killed while you're busy with the item). In order to make use of all of the gamepad's features that would also mean they would need some sort of NFC feature. I'm not sure if I like the idea of that because that usually implies that you have to buy extra little knick knacks.
Multiplayer: I have no idea what to expect here. My first thoughts would be that Link would be controlled with the wii remote plus (á la Skyword Sword) while a second player uses the gamepad to play as some sort of assistant, but I'm fairly confident that Nintendo is going to want to make full use of the gamepad for this game just to show to everyone why the gamepad should even exist. My other guess would be to include a separate four swords style multiplayer mode, hopefully both co-op and battle modes, but again, no idea what to expect.
Because he's been the star of every game in the series except one, and that was one of the CD-i abominations. Time to give the girl whose name is in the title some quality time with the lime light. Little boy green can come back for the inevitable next installment.
I could be up for some quality zelda time.
Also
I allready admit there are too many topics / conversations on this subject but do you think we will see majoras mask 3d before zelda u then ?
They have absolutely, positively NO choice lol. This E3 is Nintendo's last chance in hell to make the Wii U matter, and the only way to do that is to show GAMES. They really have to show or at least talk about the next Zelda, They really have to show at least two new unannounced games, they have to drop release dates on X and Bayonetta, They have to show Yarn Yoshi. They have to show whatever they have, because if they don't, they will convince all but the most deluded Nintendo fans that they have totally given up. if that happens, Nintendo will be out of console gaming essentially for YEARS, because no one will make games at all for a lame-duck Wii U, nor for a new, middle of the generation machine after most gamers have bought a ps4 or xb1. This E3 is a big deal for Nintendo. It's all been so odd, considering what a wonderful machine the Wii U is. Has any company EVER shot themselves in the foot this severely?
I agree they need to show alot. As there are currently 2 games worth buying confirmed between now and Christmas.
And not doing so will hurt them BUT they have the cash, experience and manpower to ride out a "failed" generation console.
I say all this in a hushed voice as I LOVE my wii u.
Its the best thing I have bought in ages. And Nintendo at the end of the day are awesome.
But its currently been outsold by the dreamcast !
(Which again I did buy and enjoy)
