Topic: Wii U or vita?

For those saying the Vita is dead, it is still selling more than the Wii U. lmao

On another note, these are the two least desirable platforms. If you like Nintendo games, get the console. If you like third party games and Sony games, get the handheld.

About 6 weeks ago I traded in my Wii U for a Vita. I have to say that they are very similar. Both rely heavily on Indie games at the moment as their AAA games have not arrived but the one difference for me is the extra features the Vita incorporates. The rear touchpad is excellent and adds a further dimension to some games. The front touchscreen is more responsive, has multi touch and is better quality. PS Plus makes a big difference for me as well. I so far have paid for 2 games and a memory card, but I have 20 games. PS Plus is £40 per year but you get at least 3 free games a month , and good games as well, such as Uncharted, Wipeout 2048 etc and you also get discounts on most games. When I bought my Wii U, I knew off TV play was how I would play most of my games, and my 2 favourites, ZombiU and Lego City, wouldn't let me. I really wanted to love the WiiU but it felt old and the gamepad felt underused and like a tablet from 3 years ago. Vita games take advantage of the 2 screens. The battery usage on both is about the same.. The vita has 2 cameras to the Wii U's one and it also takes photos and video. If I was going for one now, I would buy a Vita. In Spring of next year, that might be different when SSB and Mario Kart are out, but the better hardware is the Vita. The indie games generally are cheaper on the Vita as well. I got mine from Game, £169 for wifi version with 8gb Memory card inc 10 games and 1 month free PS Plus.

Everyone can see that Wii U has many huge upcoming games and Vita has nothing. Also, Vita's third party support is atrocious and worse than Wii U. It was recently a laughing matter by a big publisher in Facebook - Adventure Time is coming to all consoles, including Wii U, but not the Vita.

Besides, it's not really selling a lot more lol... in Japan last week Wii U showed that it can surpass Vita big time, this week roughly the same...

Also with Vita you have to remember that it will soon be the second screen for the PS4 including over Wifi remote play and all of the features you get on the Gamepad with Wii U, such as mini maps, loadout selection, scanners, etc.

Monkeyofthefunk

dumedum

Yeah, that won't happen. No developer will put the effort or time. People will play with the Dualshock controller, not with the Vita. At least 90% of the userbase. Wii U is the only one that will enjoy the second screen features.

Which requires you to get both, which is a trade-off to me

Dumedum, Wii U has not 3rd party support, except for Ubisoft and Rayman etc is coming to the Vita. So is the new Batman, along with a load more. 3rd party support is the same for both.
Vita will have a load of titles when PS4 launches as you will be able to play nearly all of the games via remote play, no matter where you are.
I loved Wii U when I got it but if started to feel old and the gamepad felt like old tech as well. Load times on Wii U are ridiculous as well. Games on Vita load in 2 to 3 seconds at most.

You don't need both. What I meant is IF you get a PS4, you can use the Vita as a second screen.
The Vita does everything the Wii U does except display on the TV.

I'd wait for better value, when Vita is bundled with PS4.

And Wii U bundled with 3DS...

The game pad does not feel like old tech, and the load times are just fine. It takes years to install games to the PS3 to the harddrive, that's worse. Seriously, if you think Vita will suddenly pick up you're dreaming... Sony didn't even mention any new games for it in E3, did they? They themselves abandoned it. And this streaming - it will probably be laggy and crappy. Not as nearly as good as the connection between the gamepad and the console.

Sales of Vita have risen since the PS4 has been announced. I'm not against the Wii U and I'm not a Sony Fanboy, I just say it how it is. The Wii U gamepad is old tech. It doesn't bring anything to games, except off TV play, and not every game supports that.

Yet the Vita has more third party games, at the moment. And that recent survey among devs posted in this very forum showed that more devs are interested in developing for the Vita.

What rational evidence suggests the Wii U has far better third party support?

Also release of a big game = more sales. After release = same sales. Still not good for the Wii U. The Vita has sold more total, so the Wii U will have to consistently outpace the Vita to overcome its total sales, something that has not happened yet.

The gamepad to console connection on Wii U? Move into another room and unless you have line of sight and are about at most 20 feet away, you lose the connection.
I've always loved Nintendo and in my top ten all time games there are at least 5 Ninty ones but the Wii U is not what I wanted. It just doesn't work. They should have launched the console with the gamepad as an extra. and sold the Wii U with a revised gamecube pad.

Obviously they have not risen enough. Good luck with that. No exciting game comes up. Legends and Batman also coming for Wii U and 3DS of course.
It is your very narrow opinion that it doesn't "bring anything new". I thought it brought plenty of new. And feels like the newest tech whatever that means.

Interesting then. I can go to the bathroom , close the door, and play. I can move around my entire flat with the Wii U and it continues perfectly, sometimes with a bit of hiccups. No line of sight is required. It's not infra red you know.

Global console sales last week. Vita over 42,000, Wii U over 26,000.
There's your proof.

I know it's not infra red it runs on a proprietory wireless system but I know 3 people with Wii U's and they all have distance problems.
I admire your defence of the Wii U but dead horses don't need flogging. They need burying.
The Vita has one more trick up it's sleeve. The PS4 launch.

Peek-a-boo

@dumedum Seeing as you are the ONLY person on this thread who is more or less saying 'the PS Vita is crap, dead, has no future, etc.', what do you make of the Wii U, which I would quite happily argue is in a just as troubling state as the PS Vita?

What evidence do you have? I just gave you the example of Adventure Time. Vita got some ports at launch just like Wii U did. There are a lot of third party ports or games on the Wii U - huge games, like Batman Arkham City, Darksider II, ACIII, Mass Effect 3, Tekken, Scribblenauts, etc etc. Saying to someone to get the Vita if he wants third party support is utterly ridiculous and false. "recent survey posted " lol.

lol, sold more in total? Vita has been out for longer, and Wii U still developing the huge games. What exactly is Sony developing for Vita? any huge selling exclusive like Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros. or 3D Land/World or Zelda? I didn't think so.

Lord that is sad

At least last gen Nintendo fanboys could fall back on sales.

Now they'll have to utilize dumedum's tactic of ignoring the positives of every other system and its library.
