E3 has gained itself an inexplicable hype to which it was unable to live up to this year; it's just another glorified gaming showcase, albeit one propelled a bit too far into the spotlight, as evident this year. Sony even proved themselves miles better at Gamescom this year, and what Nintendo was lacking in lustre is slowly being regained by their new themed Nintendo Direct conferences, which are proving much more interesting lately. I hope this also becomes something regular in Europe and North America, alongside what's been showing in Japan.
Nintendo direct doesnt get as much attention as it should, but that tends to make the surprises better and better. And we get them more frequently.

I just wanna see a smash teaser.
Although that's unlikely.

Me too. Normally I would say that they're saving a surprise like that for E3, but who knows with how big Nintendo Direct is now. But yeah, highly unlikely.
Considering Nintendo of Australia talked down this event saying that there'd be no information on launch date or price or anything, I'm not going to get my hopes up for anything too special.
But they could have always just been lying or not really know themselves or something, and surely with a pretty big event like this you'd think there'd be at least something.
I really am hoping that they actually give us the release date and price. All these rumors are getting annoying; I just want the truth already! Just a little over a week away now...

The classy thing about Nintendo Direct is that journalists don't have time to write what's going to happen, so they can't be disappointed when it doesn't follow their script. It's just "SURPRISE! Nintendo Direct TOMORROW!"
Back to the September 13th event, I really think Nintendo will announce EVERYTHING, from release date, price, more first party and third party games in development, launch colors and detailed final technical specs. That's my guess.
I'm not expecting anything big; just a price & release date for November... because I hope it's not expensive & at around $200 instead of $250, (though that would be okay)!
And the sad thing is that my Wii is not even working; & I'm not toally sure if I want to wait for the Wii U or replace my Wii... even though I'm at a loss for wanting to be able to transfer my VC/WW games!

I'd personally expect $250 as the lowest possible price. It's probably gonna be between $300-400.
Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again
The market is going to continue to differentiate based on the types of experiences that consumers want. As an example, if I’m the head of a household of a family of four, and my disposable income is $50,000 to $60,000, I’m going to continue to look at the Wii because of the software, and it’s a great entertainment device. For consumers who want to have the latest gadgets and have a higher disposable income, that’s for the Wii U.
We haven’t announced pricing or availability or any other details, but given the current pricing of the Wii, it’s not going to be there.
We’ve been very clear, the market is going to decide how long these products will coexist side by side. Our goal is to launch the Wii U and drive it into the marketplace, but it will speak to a different consumer than the one that is buying the Wii today during the holidays.

Slightly out of touch there Reggie!Majority of families of 4 certainly do not have $50-60,000 disposable income per annum and what's worrying is he's putting these families in the lower income demographics? If they're going by that reasoning, that only people with more disposable income than 50-60 grand can afford the Wii U then good luck to them.
