This thread depresses me with all the blatant fanyboyism.. You guys will defend any new Mario game, no matter how unoriginal (3d World) or easy it is..
WHAT IS THIS PHENOMENA YOU CALL OPINIONS!?!
Seriously. If fanboyism is what's depressing you, you have much bigger problems than whether the game will be original or hard enough for you.
I will say at least this is a "I'd rather buy other games though this looks kinda cool" type of game instead of "OH GOD NINTENDO THIS IS PATHETIC, STOP" like I was worried the series was going. Improvement! (?)
I think it looks better than Super Mario Galaxy 2. I liked the first Galaxy game, but I didn't really want anymore after that.
I feel like the levels overall are looking like how the Bowser stages in the N64 were. It's linear and set-up like an obstacle course for the most part.
64 and Sunshine just let you run around a few levels with different goals within the level, which may be what people have come to expect from the 3D Mario games, but Galaxy was mainly linear, as well.
I think the game is gonna be good. It seems to be shaping up alot better since the levels are more complex and free roam multiplayer than 3D Land.
First time with the Wii Remote, second time with the GamePad.
It was a very fun game in multi-player, but I really wish it was compatible with nunchuks! What the heck?
I think it is...best Buy just didn't have the option, or let us use that option. lol
I asked the person handling the demo station, and she told me that it doesn't support Nunchuks.
I really hope she is wrong, though.
The game uses the Wii remote? Well, what do you know. The nunchuck would have made it really like Mario Galaxy, so it is disappointing to hear. Maybe it will feel like Other M. I'm surprised to see that the remote can be used, I was expecting the gamepad to be the only usable controller for the game.
I'm sure it will use the Pro controller. I've become more fond of the D-pad in 3D games, but I will always prefer an analog stick 3D(at least as an option depending on the game) games.
Not supporting the analog sticks was my main gripe with alot of PS1 games, besides the subpar graphics and disc reading BS.
They just want to make the controller use really simple and straight forward, probably.
"Good. Everyone's together. Pyrrhon loves a party." "...It's funny because marriage is terrible!" If you know the origin of both of those quotes, then you're awesome! Songs are like hugs that mouths give to ears. Dreams are easy to achieve if hope is all...

She wasn't wrong. The demo games really only did support d-pad for the Wii remote. It would be a very STUPID decision not to support nunchucks in the final release, however. It'll limit players movements to 8 directions which can be very annoying at times. Super Mario 3D Land did that, even with the ANALOG circle pad, and it made the movement feel weird at times. Nintendo would be taking a step backwards if they had digital input for movement..
Its a sad day when a Mario fanboy that grew up on the 3D Marios starts like the MODERN 2D Mario than the MODERN 3D. I think the "new super Mario Bros." series has come a long way. I wouldnt be surprised if NSMBU gets somewhat better if not tired critics scores with.... this monstrosity of a game! >:]

Sadly, I actually agree with you.. Not to the extent to call this a "monsrosity", but overall I agree.. :/
Am I the only one that's annoyed that we're going back to the old, "get hit once you get small, get hit again and you die." health system? That's meant for 2D Mario games. But this is a 3D Mario game (at least that's what they're calling it). Just give me my health meter, please!

It's more of a New Super Mario Bros. game in 3D form. It's closer to that than it is to a "3D" Mario game.
