One question to you guys, is there anything remarkable about this "Squid inkling" that comes with a limited edition of the game? Because I can't seem to find this green Squid to buy separately, I'm just curious if it is worth spending 22 bucks extra for the limited edition?

Each of the three Splatoon amiibo unlock separate missions. There's nothing extra or special about the squid compared to the others, but if you want to unlock all of the missions, you need all three amiibo.

I heard that behind every of these three amiibos, there is a surprise after finishing the missions, like getting an "unique" gear or something. Is this gear usable outside single player?

There is one exclusive gear for each amiibo. I'm not 100% sure, but I would assume they'd work online. I also found out that you unlock the 8-bit games with amiibo, too. One for each.
I'm extremely curious as to why the Splatoon team didn't even included shortcuts for textual communication? That seems totally within Nintendo's style, it's relatively safe, and it helps the team based aspect better.

The amiibo-unlocked gear is NOT usable in single player, ONLY in multiplayer. For each amiibo, you'll get a 4*5 grid displayed, where each square represents a single player level where the amiibo challenge exists. For every group of 4 challenges you complete, you'll unlock something. If you clear all 20 challenges for an amiibo, you'll get an extra retro game to use while waiting in the lobby. (The squid amiibo unlocks the Rhythm minigame, the Inkling "girl" unlocks the Vollyeboll minigame, the Inkling "boy" unlocks the Racing minigame.)
Each of the three amiibo figures are connected to its own gear, which are displayed on the Splatoon web site.
The single player campaign uses its own currency and system for gear. And you'll have to first clear a single player level "normally" to be able to play it as an amiibo challenge.

Even the Testfire Demo has such shortcuts...
Oh I didn't know. The way the developers talked about it, it sounded like there was absolutely no communication.

It isn't much, but depending on your language/region it would say something along the lines of "come on" (NA/Japan) or "to me" (Europe) for up on the d-pad and down is "booyah" (NA) or "Nice/cool" (Japan/Europe).
As soon as I get my salary (this Monday) I'm gonna get myself a new router (was unlucky enough to receive a Technicolor from my internet company, and as you all know, online play on that piece of junk is a big no-no) and buy this game. Wohoo, looking forward to battling it out with you guys:D
Tofu.. They all started as Tofu. Insidious beginnings. Now morphed into a dreadful game that shows no signs of slowing down. It will take over the world.

Oh I was thinking of combat based shortcuts. So like "cover me" or "I got this"
