I fairly enjoyed my time online this morning.Apart from a couple of games where my ink wasn't registering until a couple of seconds later it went pretty well for a first run so good job Nintendo.I'm not sure how I feel about the motion controls yet,i struggled at times but I think they'll just take time to get used to.Like the pointer controls in Metroid, once they click there's no going back.I did find it annoying sometimes that I had team members trying to finish inking the same small area as I already started but I'll blame that on noobs.Overall, good fun and with all the extra content and hopefully great single player mode then we've got some inking great times ahead.
Pros:
-Tight and responsive controls.
-Great music and graphics
-Fantastic map design
-You don't need voice chat because you can tell where you have to go just by looking at the map.
Cons:
Motion controls suck. In my opinion anyway. I can see how they would be great for a newcomer to shooters, but as a veteran of the genre, I'm going to stay far away from it Also guys, you CAN turn the motion controls off. Its in the control options.

I've used every weapon at least a couple of times now, but I like the Splattershot Jr. the most. The Splat Roller is pretty neat too. The first and second match were pretty terrible, but now I'm used to the controls. I still forget about the special weapons every time.
Just got done with my 2nd, one hour taste, of Splatoon. I couldn't be more happy with a pre-purchase decision in my life! I pre-purchased Splatoon through the eShop before the Testfire and Nintendo didn't let me down. My favorite weapon is the roller and I am shockingly good with it. I can't wait to see the full game and the different weapons in the "roller class"
I didn't like the gamepad aiming at all, but with motion controls turned off, I thoroughly enjoyed that. Paint roller seems a bit over-powered, but it makes a nice change to have the aim be covering territory.
Yeah I'm really glad I preordered this game. Its soooo addicting! I only played like 5 matches for each test though, because I have to study to finals At first I was kind of annoyed that matches were so short, but it just makes you want more!

Last time I spent 80% of the time with the roller, this time I played with a bunch of other weapons. Also there was one round where I was using the charger and all three other members on my team had rollers. At this point I don't think the roller is at all OP. Not in the slightest.
I'd say that overall you need at least one person on the team who's good at it using the roller. Then you need a couple of people using the splattergun so that your opponents can't push forward. Then the last spot works well with either another roller (esp if they're working together!) or a charger. That's the best combo. Although four people with splatterguns? That also worked. Anything else.... not so much..

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
So I decided to main the charger for a bit and I'm actually getting good at it. It's fun to maintain a high position and kick some rollers ass that way. But yeah it didn't really work anymore when all my other 3 teammates were rollers.

I agree. I used the roller quite a bit, and found it very effective for claiming turf. Not so much as a weapon unless you can sneak behind people. Of course, with more play time I can probably get used to flinging paint to get kills. But when we had a 4 roller team one time, we were destroyed. We couldn't keep people alive long enough to guard the massive amounts of turf we captured and had a difficult time killing the other team when they breached our turf. Hopefully in the final game there is a way to switch your weapon sets mid game. I could see this being a big problem if you can't. The splatter guns are probably the way to gofer all around play. I had a very hard time with the sniper rifles, but I didn't adjust my play style well enough I think.
I also found that the motion controls were the way to go. I tried to do stick aiming once and was so terrible. The motion made it pretty easy and precise, although I did find myself looking down or up a little too often due to not paying close enough attention to how i was holding the gamepad. All in all though, I could see this game getting a ton of playtime and value if the online component stays robust.

I agree. The perfect thing is to combine motion control and the right stick. Then you are very fast in aiming up and down and left and right. Amazing how great it works.
