Being able to buy used games is one of the selling points. That doesn;t account for people who plan o go mostly digital or plan to consume alot of digital goods. Its not big of a deal but that seemless transition that's been show in the PS4/One user interface shows how .
No one is underplaying 4K. Were jst disputing Scar's opinion that a company can;t be in more fields at a time. LIke you even said 4K won;t be a big deal until the next console generation. But irrc the PS4 can support 4K content.
What you didn't respond to in my post says quite a lot I think

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions

What about taking that $400 and building a gaming PC. I mean yeah that's cool and all but I like to play games with my irl and have a more trouble free environment. Don;t get wrong I feel PC's are awesome and if you really want freedom and Graphics its the place to go. Howveer like most of the gaming populace I don't mind giving up all of the freedom and power for a set of standards and ease of use.
As far as i'm concerned off screen play with the Vita is just a nice little addition. There's the prospect of cross-buy as well its own original software which is why i'm getting one. Plus its been getting a ton of indie love and since I don't game on my ultra book this seems like a nice way to play some games.
Eh I'm still not utterly convinced that 4K will be as big as some think. I means its awesome and I'll be done with school buy the times they're semi-mainstream so i'll pick one up. But I'm not sure the quality jump would matter to most people. I mean Blu-ray sales are trending downward compared to digital downloads and Blu-ray craps over DD from a quality standpoint. I could be completely wrong and looking at it from different markets (Hardware V Software)
Microsoft sucks at indies, I didn't think that was a point of contention.

Oh. I wasn't aware that Smash was confirmed to not support cross play. I found the info.
Probably the most disappointing news about the game thus far.
Not really. The game overall is still better than alot of others. They said because the different stages and visuals. It makes sense why they want to keep it separate.
There's still connectivity between the games, BTW.
It's basically 2 games with the exact same characters, but everything else is different. It will make both games on the separate devices more unique.

Please, not the connectivity nightmares of the GameCube and GBA to unlock the full 100% of a game, a sleazy sales tactic.

Ah those were the days. Having to pay around $600 just to play a full game of Crystal Chronicles

I completely agree. I thought they would have the same stages and everything, which would warrant cross play, but the stages and art styles are different. The 3DS version is optimized for portable, and Wii U is for complete home entertainment.
I'll probably be buying both. The only connectivity is sharing your character between consoles. Keeping the games separate gives more reason to own both games. It isn't an own all or miss out situation.
There's a possibility that other developers may make use of the connectivity between the consoles, but Nintendo intentionally makes the games separate to take advantage of each individual console.
Not really sure if this explanation was needed, but whatever...
Yes, but how are they going to guarantee the actual cross features will be used? They already are having trouble selling the Vita as is, and they aren't doing anything to improve the situation.
Actually there's a lot of games that use crossplay or cross-buy between PS3 and Vita. Playstation All Stars, Guacamelee, Limbo and many others. It's a nice feature and good value.
I just looked and there's hardly any. Like 15 or something, and it doesn't give enough reason to buy a PS Vita.
There's a difference between remote play, and cross play.
Wii U can already do remote play without another system. http://www.gamespot.com/knack/videos/gs-news-ps4-games-to-req...
Watch the video. They are requiring remote play. Unless they sell a PS Vita to every single PS4 owner, developers are going to be wasting alot of time/money getting a feature for their games that will mostly go unused.
The biggest appeal of a console is to guarantee consumers that they are getting the full experience.
With PS Vita acting as the Wii U GamePad and the 3DS at the same time, everyone that doesn't have a PS4 or a Vita(depending on which one they already have), will always be missing part of the game.
But in another interview with the dev from Knack, who is also the system architect for PS4, the remote play feature is already built into the hardware. Devs only need to create a control scheme in order to get it to run on Vita, which he mentions isn't as difficult as most people would think. Remote/cross play is basically testing grounds on PS3, and will be fully utilized for almost every PS4 game now that sony essentially made it a requirement for most PS4 titles in development.
@irken004
My point is that not everyone has a Vita, so remote play that is in every game won't be utilized unless you have a Vita. If it doesn't matter that time and money will be used on something that will mainly go unnoticed, than that's Sony's deal, but I honestly think it's kind of a waste.
Maybe they'll bundle a Vita w/ the PS4 later.

Or, you know, maybe people will be enticed by the idea and buy a vita for it?

So spend the same amount on the hardware itself, pay a monthly fee, pay higher prices for games, get less graphical power and less freedom... but at least you don't have to have the fun of putting it together!
Actually when I replied to your initial reply I was mostly talking about your lack of response to the community features. These aren't things the PS4 came up with, everyone does this now.
Hold on. The PS4 will be 400$ plus tax, yes? And the Wii U deluxe set is currently 350$... I'm not sure if this was mentioned previously, but...
Why is everybody acting like 50$ is chump change? 50$ almost pays for an additional game. I don't know about you guys, but I don't have the money to toss around 50$ willy nilly. Plus, the Wii U was out first, and will likely get a price cut (I'm guessing 50$) by the time PS4 gets released. That makes a 100$ difference. Frankly, I don't care about the specs that much, and I know that a lot of consumers who don't know a lot about specs will feel the same way. They'll see the PS4 at 400$ plus tax, and the Wii U Deluxe Set at 300$ plus tax. That 100$ could buy a game and help pay for most of a second. If I hadn't already bought the Wii U and wasn't a Nintendo fan, and had to make my decision between PS4 and Wii U, the cheaper price alone would be enough to warrant buying a Wii U.

I'm a Nintendo fan (I buy Nintendo consoles for the exclusives) but the logical thing for serious gamers to do is buy a gaming PC. I think that the idea that "I don't want to put one together" is a bit silly. I'm not great with computers, but I know the basics, and from what I understand a gaming PC won't be all that hard to put together, and I'm planning on building one eventually. I completely agree with your statement. Also, "most of the gaming populace" simply don't understand the advantages of having a gaming PC, and the idea of "building one" scares the crap out of them. Personally, I think that putting in the work and assembling your own PC would be a rewarding experience. If any people who've actually built a PC would care to vouch for me, that'd be ideal (since I can't speak from experience).

Well most of my friends game on consoles so I want to play on them. Also lower prices assumes I'll wait a few months for the price to drop on steam. Plus PS+ gives free games every month and is known for having great sales.
As far as community features go while everyone has them I find the Wii U's to be the best and worst at the same time. I think miiverse as a concept is brilliant and the other guys aren't taking that approach to social is a bit sad. However I feel that features like Live streaming while probably not a big deal is something i'm interested in. As far as execution I'd say Miiverse is probably the best.
Sony is showing off this Pintrest type board but I'm not sure its going to have the same effect as Miiverse and Wara Wara Plaze combined.
