As pixelman said, this was merely a tech demo to show off the Wii U. Of course, Nintendo would be crazy not to develop it into an actual game, given the success of NSMBW, not to mention the fact that people wanted to be able to play as Miis instead of the Toads from the start...

I hope they don't call it New Super Mario Bros Mii. And if it does become a full game I would hope they make the backgrounds DKCR style (With polygons).
It was only a tech demo, but I do believe Nintendo said they may be creating an N.S.M.B. Wii sequel for the Wii U, with Miis as playable characters. Other than that, this thread is void.

If they make this game into a full game, it'll be great to play as your Mii on an adventure with Mario and Luigi. I think they definitely need to have 1. More Characters. A couple of more characters to play as would be nice. Maybe Peach, Yoshi, and Wario? This isn't really a huge issue for me, but I'm sure everyone will want more characters. (Including me) 2. Get rid of the pausing. The pausing that happens, even when simply getting an item can ruin your jumps in an multiplayer game and is frustrating at times. This really should be taken out of the game. 3. More Items. More items would be neccessary for this game. The Mega Mushroom should return. 4. More Modes. This game should have a competitive mode where you can touch the other players and a cooperative one where you can't hurt and be able to go through the other player. There also should be a small mini game mode like in NSMB on the DS.
There are some flaws there, 1. Yoshi, riding on a Yoshi? But more characters, other than Miis, would b nice. 2. What if you need 2 leave? Wii menu pausing is still there. 3. No flaws, more items is good. 4. No flaws, so yea.

Um... They don't need Retro to make the game in that style. Retro doesn't have a copyright on the graphics style of DKC Returns.
