a few things have really annoyed me with wind waker and the fact there such minor problems just aggravates me more.
1) no on screen mini map.
i mean fair enough we have the map displayed on the gamepad now but what about off tv mode? it makes it more of a chore than the original to constantly have to pause the game just to check your whereabouts in a dungeon
2) can only use your aimable items with R if you dont want to use the gyroscope aiming. using X or Y means your thumb is in use and you cant use the left stick to aim.
3) item screen freezes when walking though doors or talking to people. you have to stop looking at the tv screen anyway when changing items so theres no real advantage over pausing. it would make sence if we could quickly change while going though doors or while talking to someone. as it is i dont see it as any improvement from the original.
do any of you guys feel the same? i find it disappointing that such minor issues went unaddressed especially points 1 & 2. i mean did no one at nintendo actually test the game?
@Longforgotten Yeah that is my first transition pic from my Miiverse account to NL... Expect to see alot more of these pics with silly captions in the future

1) If I remember correctly, you have the on screen minimap when using the ProController.
2) Why not using the gyroscope aiming? Is way easier some times.
And you only have to tap the button one time to aim. I think you make the mistake holding it instead. ^^
3) My guess is that it is an technical issue. I think Nintendo couldn't do much about it. :3
I would love the gyro aiming. The gyro aiming in Ocarina of Time made using the the bow and hookshot a good deal more accurate and enjoyable to use. The aiming in the original Wind Waker could be rather tricky sometimes due to to Link's jerky arm movements. I would consider the the gyro aiming a welcome feature, but that's just me.
2 does bother me, I've never been a big fan of gyro controls. If Link is turned around when you pull out your bow or boomerang you have to turn your body almost 90 degrees to get him to face the direction you wanted him to. This a big issue in fights for me.

Why don't you put the bow away and turn link with the analog stick?

I do, but you should be able to turn in first person just as fast.

I use a combination of gyro and duals sticks. I use stick controls to get to the general area, then aim using gyro for speed and accuracy. I always map certain items to to certain buttons.
I've played that way since Ocarina of Time(mapping certain items to the buttons I prefer them on).
