How can I play with my Link Amiibo? I'm in Smash mode, I scan him in, he shows up and then I have to select another player, P2, when I do, I play as P2 not Link.

I didn't realize that. What's the point in having the level up options if I can't play as it?

I'm sorry but I don't understand the logic going on in people's minds to think they can play as their amiibo. What would even be the point. You could do that normally without one!

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Pretty much you can only play with or against your amiibo(s) but not as them. You can also have amiibos fight with one another but it's all AI.

Edit: sorry for the 2nd answer, slow post with multitasking

A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

That's lame, so all they really are is collectibles. I won't bother using them in game. What a gimmick.

Yep that's the point. A collectible that is not really required for anything or is mandatory but if you have it then, you could use it.

Playing as an amiibo would be literally USELESS oh my christ. How is this a hard concept to understand?!

I realize I'm getting worked up over this but the logic fail here is astounding!

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

FWIW, you can team up with your amiibo in 2-player.

I guess some people think it MAY be cool to play as your amiibo if the amiibo would store all of your custom gear and stats, right? But yea, at first I was one of those people who was super upset about it, but now I see the logic. You can play as the character anyway, so uh... yea, what the heck would the point even be aside from maybe a custom name or something like that? It's much cooler to collect them and train them up almost like Pokemon.

Yes, you are getting worked up and showing your ignorance.
It would be nice to store settings, etc and play as your Amiibo. I fail to understand the reasoning behind your inability to grasp that concept. Oh well.

That's what custom battles are for. So again I don't see the point.

Regardless of whether you play as them or play against them, it's kind of pointless either way. You can already play as all the Amiibo characters in Smash without buying a figure; and you can already play against or team-up with any of the Amiibo characters in Smash. The only thing you can't do, is increase the CPU character's level past 9. The only redeeming quality would be leveling them up and then battling friends and family member's Amiibos.

I think Nintendo needs to create an Amiibos only game where you unlock or get more credits by playing with them in games like Smash, Kart, and Hyrule Warriors. I'm picturing a game like Mii Plaza on the 3DS.

Yeah, there's really no point in playing as an Amiibo...all it really is is an advanced AI player.

They learn the way you fight and copy your fighting style. And they learn how to counter your different techniques. You seem to have forgotten that
